NSK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of bearings, linear motion technologies and steering systems, has endorsed recommendations made in the final report of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Within the report, it is recommended that corporations disclose information on risks and opportunities related to climate change which impact upon finance. The TCFD was established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB), an international body that monitors and makes recommendations about the global financial system.
NSK has developed the third generation of its in-wheel motor, the world’s first design of its type to feature a complete package comprising motor, inverter and wireless charging unit. The innovative wireless in-wheel motor (W-IWM) for the electric vehicle (EV) market is capable of charging from coils embedded in the road, while in motion. Development of the latest unit was conducted jointly by a research group comprising NSK, the Fujimoto Laboratory at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, Bridgestone Corporation, ROHM Co Ltd and Toyo Electric Mfg Co Ltd.
A ceramic roof tile manufacturer is saving €4,950 a year by switching to NSK K1 lubrication units for its handling machinery. The move has dramatically reduced the previous labour and downtime costs associated with re-greasing the integral linear guides.
After experiencing ongoing problems with the bearings on a vital milling machine at a steel plant, the management team turned to NSK for a solution. This decision proved to be extremely lucrative, with the steel mill now enjoying annual savings of €35,600.
In co-operation with the WBA (World Bearing Association), NSK has developed a new app to help combat the ongoing issue of fake bearings. In recent years, the company has been working closely with the WBA, JBIA (Japan Bearing Industry Association) and authorities around the world to enforce law and order on counterfeiters, and eliminate bogus bearings from the marketplace.
The Board of Directors of NSK Ltd. announced the promotion of Dr Ulrich Nass as Chief Executive Officer of NSK Europe Ltd. His appointment is effective since 1 October 2019. Dr Nass was also appointed Vice President of NSK Ltd. on the same date. Since taking over as Chief Operating Officer in February 2019, he has initiated the transformation of NSK Europe for the future.
NSK used the recent EMO 2019 exhibition to introduce its optimised RA series of recirculating roller bearing guides with enhanced sealing technology. RA linear roller guides are equipped with new V1 seals and an improved cover, thus helping to increase the service life and reliability of machine tools.
At EMO 2019 NSK presented its new Robustride cylindrical roller bearings for the spindle drives of high speed, high precision machine tools. These advanced bearings feature an optimised cage that facilitates more even lubricant distribution, which in turn reduces bearing wear, especially under high loads. Also launched at the show were NSK’s Robust angular contact ball bearings with improved accuracy class.
Among the exhibits from NSK’s comprehensive portfolio at this year’s EMO Hannover 2019 exhibition will be a number of notable products for machine tools, including the recently introduced range of DIN-standard ball screws and a new series of high-durability precision ball screws. Also being presented is a range of optimised spindle bearings for ever-higher precision and speed, while a further product set to be unveiled is a series of linear roller guides equipped with highly dustproof seals. Visitors to EMO Hannover, which takes place on 16-21 September, will find NSK at booth B34 in hall 7.
NSK Turkey is adding value for customers in the steel industry by hosting training days at a trio of steelmaking facilities. The three training days were completed recently in line with the corporate goal of continuously increasing customer knowledge in this important sector for Turkey’s economy.
