Machine tools are essential industry infrastructure, providing critical components for countless manufacturing sectors.

At the prestigious Bosch Global Supplier Awards 2023, NSK was selected as one of just 46 top suppliers from approximately 35,000 companies that provide parts to Robert Bosch GmbH (Bosch) globally.

As part of the ‘Asia-Pacific Climate Change Leaders’ survey conducted jointly by the Financial Times and Statista, Japan-headquartered NSK is proud to report its selection in the top 275 companies able to demonstrate outstanding environmental achievements around the globe.

Processes such as drilling, milling and grinding require linear and rotary motion solutions that offer impressive performance and exceptional quality.

EMO Hannover 2023 (18-23 September) will provide NSK with a platform to showcase its latest advances in this important technology area. Notably, the company’s 120 m2 booth (Booth C42, Hall 7) will shine the spotlight on several ball screws making their exhibition debut in Europe.

NSK S1 is the first bioplastic retention piece for ball screws to appear on the global market. Made from 100% renewable biological resources (mainly plants), the use of bioplastic for the new retaining piece reduces carbon footprint by 90% over its lifecycle in comparison with using conventional materials.

When NSK solved an overheating issue involving the bearings on a dust extraction fan at an ore preparation plant, it led to annual cost savings of €88,955. These ongoing savings emanate from the elimination of compressed air – previously required for cooling – thanks to NSK’s correctly specified bearing and lubrication solution.

With the micro-mobility market set to soar in the years through to 2030, NSK is in prime position to help OEMs take advantage of this significant demand. The company’s bearings have all the strength, heat treatment and compact dimensional attributes needed to succeed in any project involving products such as e-bikes, e-scooters or cargo bikes.

The work of NSK across its global and European supply chains on climate change issues has led to notable recognition for the third consecutive year. CDP, a global non-profit, non-governmental organisation specialising in environmental disclosure, has bestowed the highest leadership level on NSK in its 2022 Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) initiative.

As part of a new product offer, global bearing specialist NSK is able to produce customised pre-assembled cartridge units for applications requiring extremely precise rotational performance. These compact bespoke units feature a pair of NSK precision deep groove ball bearings to facilitate high-speed, high-precision operation in devices that include handheld vacuum cleaners, encoders, surgical equipment and optical inspection instruments.
