Eni S.p.A., established in 1953 and headquartered in Rome, Italy, is a major integrated energy company operating across the entire energy value chain. Eni's activities encompass oil and gas exploration, production, refining, marketing, electricity generation, and the development of renewable energy sources. Committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Eni invests in sustainable energy solutions, including biofuels, hydrogen, and circular economy initiatives. The company operates in 69 countries and employs over 30,000 people, focusing on delivering affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy to communities worldwide.
Versalis' Porto Marghera plant produces up to 20,000 tonnes of recycled polystyrene annually, using 35–100% post-consumer plastics for packaging, construction, and insulation.
The plant is operational, and will produce more than 70 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the annual energy needs of over 22,000 households and will enrich Plenitude's portfolio of renewable energy production in Italy.
Plenitude expands in Spain’s renewable market, doubling capacity to 950 MW, completing the 150 MW Caparacena project, and advancing 820 MW for 2025-2026 completion.
The agreements confirm the areas of cooperation between Eni and SOCAR in view of the next United Nations Climate Change Conference COP29, to be held in Azerbaijan in November 2024.
The agreement will bring together the innovation, experience and technological skills of all three companies. The partnership aims to develop a model for the creation of a scalable and increasingly sustainable supply chain.
The initiative reflects Eni's continuous commitment to innovation and digitalisation, leveraging the supercomputing power of the Green Data Center, to support the energy transition process.
