GEA ADVANCES THE OPTIMIZATION OF ITS PRODUCTION NETWORK AND INVESTS IN SITE EXPANSION IN POLAND

GEA Group AG decided on strategic guidelines and significant investments to further optimize its production network. In this context, production at the Bodenheim site near Mainz will be discontinued by the end of 2024. The plant in Koszalin, Poland, will be expanded into a Center of Competence for pump production and comprehensive machining. GEA will invest around EUR 30 million in this expansion. Investments and a further consolidation of production and process activities are planned at other locations, too. The aim is to further strengthen GEA’s global production network in order to increase productivity and reduce its cost base.

Tailor-made GEA process line for Spanish producer of serrano ham and sausages

Ramón Ventulà S.A, a family business in the north-east of Spain, famed internationally for the quality of its extensive range of meat products, has installed a new holistic slicing and packaging line from GEA. The new line, which brings together scanning, slicing and thermoforming technology from a single source, achieves improved yields, greater efficiency, less downtime, reduced use of packing materials and greater product flexibility and consistency.

GEA supplies world’s largest steam-sterilizable centrifuge for probiotics production

GEA has supplied its largest steam-sterilizable centrifuge to Jiangsu Wecare Biotechnology in Luohe, Henan Province, in central China. In January 2020, GEA completed the installation of the pharma separator of type CSI with a production capacity up to 20,000 liters an hour. It is used for the centrifugal harvesting of bacteria after fermentation at the customer’s new production plant, where probiotic powder is produced for the food, pharmaceutical and agriculture sectors.
