SIGMATEK Showcases Smart Automation solutions at SPS Nuremberg
SIGMATEK presents innovations including the X-DIAS I/O system for customized wiring boards and enhanced software tools. The new solutions offer increased flexibility, reduced wiring, and simplified integration for machine builders.

"Flexible in Design. Smart in Application," is once again the SIGMATEK exhibition motto. At the sps in Nuremberg, the Salzburg-based provider of complete solutions is presenting innovations at Stand 270 in Hall 7 complementing the automation portfolio in various areas. For example, servo amplifiers for the compact S-DIAS DIN rail system, which have been expanded with absolute encoders, new Web HMIs such as the mobile operating panel HGT 1054 and, as a highlight, the X-DIAS I/O electronics for customized wiring boards.
On the software side, there have also been a number of developments: a wide range of enhancements in the LASAL engineering environment, as well as new interfaces to external tools, digital twins and higher-level systems. The visualization software and the solutions for navigating AGVs and AMRs have also been further developed.
I/O electronics for customized wiring boards: X-DIAS
With X-DIAS, SIGMATEK is launching an I/O system for customized wiring boards as addition to the established S DIAS automation system. X-DIAS increases flexibility for series machine builders with medium and high volumes and delivers minimal wiring within the machine. The modules can be easily integrated into the OEM design of wiring boards – saving wiring time and costs.
The new I/O series is based on the proven S-DIAS system, so it is just as robust and vibration-resistant. At 12.5 x 102 x 63 mm, the X-DIAS modules are even more compact in depth. Thanks to an electromechanical adaptation, it is possible to plug the modules individually and directly onto wiring boards.
Function-Optimized for Wiring Boards
The X-DIAS modules are equipped with an LED status display and coding pins. The corresponding drill holes are located on the PCBs at the corresponding module position. This mechanical coding prevents incorrect placement and wiring. It's very simple: Click & Go. Using the wiring boards eliminates the need for manual single-core wiring. In addition, the required fuses, cut-off relays and the necessary intermediate wiring can be placed on the wiring board. This significantly reduces the wiring and commissioning effort.
Easy Integration
Standard bus systems are available for communication with the control system (e.g. Industrial Ethernet VARAN bus). In addition to the wiring boards, the complete S-DIAS and P-DIAS module range can also be used, for example for variants of the basic machine.
It is possible to connect X-DIAS modules directly to the backbone bus of SDIAS modules by using a ribbon cable together with the S/X-DIAS adapter module AP001. This direct connection reduces costs by eliminating the need for a fieldbus. With clever routing on the X-DIAS board, the communication bus is passed from one module to the next.
Comfortable Engineering
Like all SIGMATEK I/O systems, X-DIAS is seamlessly integrated into the object-oriented engineering tool LASAL. The application creation is comfortable and simple, as the object-oriented programming with graphical display provides a very clear project structure, as well as maximum modularity and reusability.
