Smart automation with Baumer sensor solutions
At SPS, the powerful Baumer ultrasonic sensors with NexSonic technology will demonstrate their versatility.
Intelligent manufacturing starts with the sensor. At SPS Nuremberg 2024 (12 - 14 November), Baumer will demonstrate how their latest sensors enable innovative solutions in factory automation. The focus will be on the versatile ultrasonic sensors with the unique NexSonic technology and the groundbreaking new encoder models. "As one of the technology leaders in sensor technology, we want our innovations to excite visitors and inspire them to develop profitable ideas for intelligent automation," says Baumer CEO Oliver Vietze.
With technologically outstanding sensors and a uniquely broad portfolio, Baumer underlines its claim at this year's SPS to give customers a head start with well thought-out solutions. These new developments are among the special highlights of SPS 2024:
Ultrasonic sensors with NexSonic technology: With NexSonic, Baumer has developed a measurably better ultrasonic technology that sets new standards. It enables response times of only 10 ms, a minimal blind zone (10 mm) and smart filter functions. Thanks to the adjustable sound beam (narrow, medium, wide), the sensors can be optimally adapted to the application.
Revolutionary encoder technology for drive control: The compact, bearingless EB260 encoder combines the precision of optical scanning with the robustness and cost-effectiveness of magnetic systems. Baumer LowHarmonics signal conditioning with auto-calibration eliminates signal errors caused by aging and mechanical factors, thus ensuring maximum precision and control quality. The versatile application possibilities of the EB260 create the basis for rethinking drive technology.
New HeavyDuty encoder series with unique all-round protection: Baumer encoders of the "Hübner-Berlin" brand have been the benchmark in HeavyDuty applications for 70 years. With the new HOG800 series, Baumer now presents the next generation of these successful models with further enhanced protection against miswiring, shaft currents, overvoltage and mechanical stress. Baumer has now made the smart functions of the comprehensive industrial encoder platform available for HeavyDuty applications. This includes the parameterization of resolution, output level and direction of rotation as well as integration into the Baumer Sensor Suite. With the new HOG800 series, Baumer once again raises the bar for HeavyDuty encoders.
Future-proof encoders for functional safety: With the safety-certified absolute encoder EAM580RS, Baumer already meets the future mandatory safety requirements of the latest safety product standard for encoders IEC 61800-5-3:202 (SIL2 according to IEC 61800-5-3:2021, IEC 61508, as well as PLd according to ISO 13849:2023). TÜV Rheinland's safety certification for the rugged magnetic encoder reduces documentation and integration efforts.
The 50 series – The world first in compact process sensors: With the new 50 series, Baumer brings the performance of the proven Combi series into an even more compact housing. The space-saving sensors impress with their high performance in pressure, temperature and conductivity measurement as well as the standardized operating concept with touch display. Users benefit from excellent process visualization and easy setup.
Harnessing the full potential of IO-Link with Baumer: At SPS, Baumer shows why the company is the first choice for IO-Link sensor solutions. The motto: The entire system from sensor to PLC from a single source. In the sensor workshop, anyone can grab a cable and connect and test sensors with IO-Link masters and the laptop in just a few simple steps.
The Baumer Booth (Hall 4A, Booth 345 and 351) once again offers many opportunities to test and experience the unique Baumer sensor solutions for oneself. Following the great success of the sensor workshop at the last SPS, Baumer will again focus on this inspiring hands-on concept. Trying out the sensors and talking to the Baumer experts will give visitors new ideas for their own design or production.
