Leroy-Somer powers the new cable-car transit system in Brest, an innovative and original achievement

Since 19 November urban mobility in the French city of Brest has been boosted by two cable cars carrying up to 60 people who travel more than 400 meters above the River Penfeld, with a power consumption that is potentially close to zero. Supported by Leroy-Somer, the companies Bartholet France and Seirel are behind this achievement which is a world first in terms of technology.

Environmentally-friendly, economical, reliable and simple: parallel hybrid propulsion offers nothing but advantages.

Electric propulsion generates no emissions and is extremely user-friendly: the vessels that use it are silent, experience much lower levels of vibration and are easier to handle. Last but not least in terms of its advantages: parallel hybrid represents an attractive economic proposition. Leroy-Somer and Control Techniques have been suppliers of marine applications for many years. In association with Mayday Electronics they have now produced a high-performance propulsion system which is at the leading edge of hybrid technology. The system was developed for CNB PRO, a trademark of Construction Naval Bordeaux (Bénéteau Group), and its client, NAVE VA.

DYNEO® MOTORS AND DRIVES SOLUTIONS

Easier than ever to implement and adapt for variable speed applications with the highest levels of energy efficiency!

Emerson variable speed solutions enhance beam pumps in artificial lift process

Emerson Industrial Automation’s latest solutions, such as the Powerdrive FX four-quadrant drive in combination with an LSRPM synchronous magnet-type motor from the company’s Dyneo® range, are now delivering priceless advantages to increasing numbers of wells using beam pumps (RRP, reciprocating rod pumps).

Change your drive systems!

The water treatment and distribution company, SEMEA, has achieved a return on its investment over 14 months by replacing a pumping installation with a solution developed by LEROY-SOMER and FLOWSERVE. Characterized by low rate variations, this application, initially at fixed speed, had little potential to achieve energy savings. As such, it is a good example that in many cases, changing a drive mechanism can yield economic benefits.

Mia car powered by Leroy-Somer motors

Through its involvement, its mastery of technologies and its great experience in electric vehicles, Leroy-Somer has taken a leading position in this emerging market, as evidenced by this partnership with mia electric. The Mia is the first model sold by Mia electric. Since September 2011, the Mia has been on sale to private individuals. This electric car designed for the city, stands apart by the requirements it intends to meet: "Compactness, spaciousness, driving simplicity, easy access, economy, and fun".

Industrial refrigeration: Leroy-Somer meets the challenge

Leroy-Somer offers motor solutions to the users, installers and manufacturers of refrigeration equipment which are high-performance, compact and highly efficient: fixed-speed induction motors, high-efficiency motors, variable speed and, for peak productivity, the new Dyneo® permanent magnet solutions. This patented technology gives very high efficiency over the entire speed range, coupled with exceptional compactness, giving higher COP than with traditional solutions. This performance was demonstrated when J&E Hall International chose Leroy-Somer to drive its compressors. This major manufacturer of refrigeration equipment has just installed the refrigeration system for a new distribution centre belonging to Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc. The energy savings have been estimated at about 45,000 euros over 4 years.
