ACOPOS M4 Redefines High-Performance Motion Control in Modern Manufacturing

Manufacturers in robotics, packaging, assembly and high-speed production increasingly require motion systems that are compact, scalable and capable of predictive maintenance. B&R’s ACOPOS M4 addresses these needs by combining high precision, power density and communication openness in a reduced footprint.

Higher performance with a smaller footprint
ACOPOS M4 doubles the power density of previous generations, allowing machine builders to design more energy-efficient systems and smaller control cabinets. This is achieved through a multi-level power supply based on standard MOSFET transistors, which increases efficiency to nearly 99% and reduces power losses by 40%. Integrated EMC filtering and the removal of external braking resistors shorten system length, enabling compact multi-axis configurations. Both air-cooled and water-cooled versions cover a wide power range from 1.4 to 200 kW.

Embedded intelligence and predictive maintenance
A newly developed embedded system equips ACOPOS M4 with predictive maintenance and adaptive capabilities. The device monitors its condition and machine behavior continuously, detects anomalies early and responds to process changes without operator intervention. Automatic diagnostics and firmware updates help sustain long-term performance and security.

Native OPC UA FX for secure, open and real-time communication
A key differentiator of ACOPOS M4 is its native implementation of OPC UA FX. This next-generation fieldbus enables deterministic, secure and interoperable communication from field devices to cloud applications. By relying on a single open standard rather than multiple proprietary protocols, ACOPOS M4 supports plug-and-produce architectures and more flexible machine integration.

Scalable multi-axis control
Each module can control up to four synchronous, asynchronous, linear or torque motors, allowing machine builders to increase machine capabilities without expanding cabinet size. The combination of performance density, embedded intelligence and open communication positions ACOPOS M4 as a competitive motion control platform for future automation needs.
