High-Voltage Clamp Meter for PV and Industrial Measurement
Perfect for taking uninterrupted current and voltage readings: the VC-771 PV is Voltcraft's first clamp meter that enables accurate high-voltage electricity measurements of solar power plants.

Accurate measurement of high currents and voltages is a recurring requirement in photovoltaic installations, electric mobility infrastructure, and industrial power systems. Supplied by Conrad, the Voltcraft VC-771 PV high-performance clamp meter addresses these demands by supporting current and voltage ranges typically encountered in these environments, while incorporating safety ratings suitable for both field deployment and industrial plant use.

Designed for high-current, high-voltage applications
The clamp meter supports current measurements up to 1500 A AC and 2000 A DC, alongside voltage measurements up to 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC. These ranges allow uninterrupted monitoring of photovoltaic string currents and voltages, including high-voltage DC circuits commonly used in large solar installations. The same current capacity is relevant in industrial maintenance tasks, such as measuring load currents on electric motors, transformers, and power distribution lines without disconnecting conductors.

A jaw opening of 52 mm enables measurement on cables with large cross-sections, which are typical in PV arrays and industrial power feeds. DC zeroing functionality is included to compensate for residual magnetic fields, improving accuracy when measuring direct current.

Handling distorted signals in industrial environments
In automation systems and motor drives, current waveforms are often affected by frequency inverters and switching electronics. To address this, the clamp meter includes a selectable low-pass filter that attenuates high-frequency components. This mechanism improves measurement stability and accuracy when working on variable-frequency drives and similar equipment, a common requirement in manufacturing maintenance and industrial MRO operations.

Measurement functions beyond current and voltage
Beyond high-voltage and high-current measurements, the instrument provides a broader set of electrical test functions. A 6000-count LCD with automatic backlighting supports readability in low-light environments such as switch cabinets and outdoor installations. Integrated Bluetooth connectivity enables wireless data transfer for app-based logging and documentation, supporting traceability in maintenance workflows and digital supply chain processes.

Additional functions include non-contact voltage detection (NCV), data hold, minimum and maximum value capture, frequency measurement, and temperature measurement via external probes. A built-in work light positioned near the jaws assists with conductor identification in confined spaces.

Safety ratings and environmental protection
The clamp meter is rated for CAT IV 1000 V and CAT III 1500 V applications, aligning with requirements for measurements at service entrances, distribution levels, and industrial installations. An IP54 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water spray, supporting use in outdoor PV installations and industrial environments. Practical safety features such as surge warnings, low-battery indication, and automatic power-off contribute to operational reliability during extended field use.

The instrument is positioned for technicians and engineers working across photovoltaics, e-mobility infrastructure, and industrial power systems who require reliable measurement of high electrical loads within established safety and measurement standards.
