MAN Expands Electric Truck Portfolio up to 50 Tons

The new MAN eTGM expands the battery-electric commercial vehicle portfolio of MAN Truck & Bus into the 16-ton distribution truck segment, targeting urban logistics, municipal applications, construction transport, and regional distribution tasks. The vehicle was unveiled at Transpotec Logitec 2026 on May 13, 2026, in Milan and fills the gap between the lightweight MAN eTGL and the heavy-duty MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS model ranges.

With the launch of the eTGM, MAN now offers a battery-electric truck portfolio covering gross vehicle weights from 12 to 50 tons based on a modular electric vehicle architecture across multiple vehicle classes. This approach is intended to simplify component integration, service processes, and scalability within the electric commercial vehicle lineup.

Electric Distribution Truck for Urban and Regional Logistics
The MAN eTGM was developed for medium-duty distribution transport, where stricter emission regulations, rising operating costs, and noise reduction requirements are increasing demand for electric commercial vehicles. The truck features a gross vehicle weight rating of 16.01 tons, optionally 16.5 tons, with a chassis payload capacity of up to 10.6 tons.

In addition, the vehicle supports trailer operation with a gross combination weight of up to 33 tons, making it suitable for regional transport applications requiring higher cargo volumes. MAN positions the truck for food and supermarket logistics, municipal services, waste management transport, regional distribution, and selected construction-related applications.

In several European markets, electric trucks above 16 tons benefit from reduced or exempt CO₂-related toll charges. The vehicle is also intended to help transport companies comply with EU fleet emission targets for heavy commercial vehicles, which are becoming an increasingly important part of digital supply chain management and transport sector decarbonization strategies.

Shared Electric Platform Across Multiple Vehicle Segments
The eTGM is based on the same modular battery-electric vehicle platform as the heavy-duty eTGX and eTGS models. Key systems such as the high-voltage architecture, thermal management, battery systems, and drivetrain components have been adapted for the medium-duty segment.

The truck is powered by the MAN eCD210 electric drive system delivering 210 kW of power and a maximum torque of 800 Nm, combined with the MAN TipMatic 2 transmission system. According to MAN, the regenerative braking performance was specifically optimized for stop-and-go operations in urban distribution traffic.

A modular battery system with two to four battery packs enables up to 320 kWh of usable battery capacity. Depending on the configuration and operating profile, ranges of up to 480 kilometers are possible. The modular setup allows operators to tailor battery capacity to their application requirements while avoiding unnecessary weight and additional costs.

High Body Integration Flexibility
During development of the eTGM, MAN emphasized compatibility with existing bodybuilder solutions. The truck includes standardized interfaces, optimized wheelbases, and support for conventional body configurations without requiring extensive modifications.

One technical feature is the availability of a mechanical power take-off shaft (mPTO). This enables auxiliary equipment and specialized body solutions to continue using established integration methods. The feature is particularly relevant for municipal vehicles, refrigerated transport, and construction-related applications.

The platform therefore supports a wide range of body variants and operational profiles in digital supply chains and urban freight transport systems, where vehicle flexibility and high availability remain critical factors.

MAN Showcases Electrification Strategy at Transpotec Logitec
At the exhibition in Milan, MAN Truck & Bus presented a broad portfolio of electric and conventional commercial vehicles for long-haul transport, construction applications, distribution, light commercial vehicles, and passenger transport.

A key focus was the expansion of the electromobility ecosystem surrounding the heavy-duty long-haul eTGX truck, including Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology, digital fleet services, connectivity solutions, financing offers, and services supporting decarbonization.

The company also showcased the MAN TGX D30, several MAN TGS models, the MAN TGL, and customized versions of the MAN TGE platform. In the passenger transport segment, the MAN Lion’s City 12 E LE and the MAN Lion’s Intercity R60 Hybrid were also presented.
