TP3502 has been developed for steel machining applications where varying material hardness, complex component geometries and interrupted cuts are common. Positioned as a versatile ISO P grade it balances wear resistance and toughness across a broad range of applications.
Classified within the ISO P35 range, TP3502 is intended to compete with established CVD grades used in general steel turning. The grade features an updated coating and edge preparation designed to produce a more controlled wear pattern and improved tool life compared with earlier generations. The aim is to enable higher cutting speeds while maintaining process stability and consistent component quality.
Designed for interrupted and mixed cutting conditions
TP3502 is a general purpose grade for steel turning, covering low and high alloy steels as well as selected stainless steels, ductile irons and powder-metal components. These applications often involve interruptions and varying cutting conditions, requiring both toughness and reliable performance.
“With TP3502, the focus is on improving process reliability in everyday steel turning,” says Mikael Lindholm, Global Product Manager General ISO Turning at Seco. ‘This stability allows manufacturers to increase cutting data and simplify production planning.”
The grade also incorporates features aimed at supporting digitalization and sustainability initiatives. Chrome used edge detection is intended to help operators make full use of each cutting edge, while a Data Matrix Code enables traceability and digital tracking. TP3502 is produced using recycled powders and is included in the buy-back recycling program, supporting waste reduction and sustainability reporting.
