“Fast in metal. Tough on the job.” With this promise, ALPEN positions the Metal Head as a metal drill bit designed for professional users. Thanks to its unique drill geometry, it delivers unprecedented drilling speed, extended tool life and outstanding precision, enabling users to work significantly more productively and cost-effectively.

Building on a tradition of “Made in Austria” that spans nearly 70 years, the family-owned company is launching the ALPEN Metal Head, a new metal drill bit designed for users who value speed, precision and cost-effectiveness equally. The tool is aimed at professional tradespeople as well as industrial and manufacturing companies where drilling is part of everyday operations, including assembly, maintenance, small-batch production and prototyping.
PEC-Tec tip geometry delivers higher speed, longer tool life and lower energy consumption than conventional step drills
At the heart of the Metal Head is the newly developed PEC technology (Progressive Edge Cutting-Tec). The patent-pending tip geometry features three cutting edges that work in tandem. The key advantage of PEC-Tec over conventional step drills is its ability to deliver precise drilling in record time across numerous holes while consuming very little energy. In addition, PEC-Tec enables precise drilling without centre punching. It ensures faster drilling with less applied pressure and controls breakthrough as the drill exits the material. This reduces snagging and burr formation while improving drilling stability.
This level of control is particularly important for productivity in manual drilling operations. Less applied pressure reduces operator fatigue, while smooth running and a reduced tendency to tilt or catch make drilling easier, even in thin sheet metal. The special tip geometry also allows drilling at an angle.
For users of cordless drills, lower energy consumption can directly improve practical productivity: less strain on the battery means more holes can be drilled on a single charge. At the same time, the lower force required reduces the strain on both the operator and the machine.

For tradespeople, maintenance professionals and industrial manufacturing
The Metal Head is designed for a wide range of applications. Typical users include metalworkers and locksmiths, mechanical engineering companies and workshops, industrial maintenance technicians and plant maintenance teams, installation contractors, structural steel and industrial building contractors, plumbers and installers, as well as automotive and commercial vehicle repair shops.
Designed for practical performance
In addition to its patent-pending cutting geometry, the Metal Head features ground flutes foroptimised chip evacuation and a steam-tempered surface for corrosion protection.
