Delta’s Cutting-Edge UPS Systems Support Mission Critical Applications in Five Football Stadiums of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™

Delta, a global leader in power and thermal management solutions, announced today the strong track record of its uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems in Russia continues thriving as they have been previously implemented in five of the football stadiums which are now selected to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Power capacity over three megawatts (MW) in Delta’s UPS systems ensure sound power supply to football field and emergency lighting, broadcasting and data transmission, as well as security systems in these stadiums. The extensive use of Delta’s UPS portfolio by both government and private entities in Russia, and its superior technology features, such as leading AC-AC efficiency up to 96%, were crucial factors to achieve this major milestone.

Delta’s Cutting-Edge UPS Systems Support Mission Critical Applications in Five Football Stadiums of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™

Mr. Victor Cheng, Delta’s senior vice president and general manager of the Information & Communications Technology Business Group (ICTBG), remarked, “Delta congratulates Russia for hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup™.  We are extremely pleased to have our state-of-the-art UPS systems backing up the infrastructure that brings a thrilling, safe and eco-friendly environment to facilities hosting major sporting events including the five stadiums that will host football fans from all over the planet during the world’s most relevant sporting event.”

Mr. Marat Fayrushin, Delta’s general director for Russia & the CIS, said, “Delta’s UPS systems and our partners’ professional services enable higher energy efficiency and steady operations in data centres and other mission critical applications in government entities, financial institutions, shopping malls, pharmaceutical companies and universities.”

Within the five aforementioned football stadiums, over 1.2 MW power capacity of Delta’s UPS systems support football field and emergency lighting, more than 1.5 MW sustain key infrastructure such as common area lighting and fire protection systems, and approximately 300 kW support surveillance and data transmission equipment. For example:

  • In two of these stadiums, Delta’s three-phase monoblock UPSs Ultron DPS series, with up to 500kVA capacity each as well as the HPH series, with highly flexible and scalable power architectures of 20kVA to 120kVA, enable resilient back-up power for several applications, including fire safety systems, automatic fire extinguishers, alarms and more.
  • In another stadium, our three-phase monoblock UPSs Ultron DPS series, with 400kVA power rating each and the Ultron HPH series, with up to 120kVA, support football field lighting masts as well as common area lighting and emergency lighting.
  • Other Delta UPSs installed in these five stadiums include the HPH series with highly flexible power architectures of 20kVA and 40kVA to better fit specific customer requirements. These systems provide reliable power to emergency notification systems and fire protection infrastructure.
  • Delta’s single-phase UPS Amplon RT series, with capacities ranging from 1kVA to 10kVA, support communication networks, databases and office equipment in most of the five stadiums.

Delta’s Mission Critical Infrastructure Solutions Business Unit (MCISBU) provides customers with world-class UPS systems as well as fully-integrated Data Center Infrastructure Solutions such as power management, precision cooling, environmental management systems and more, to enable eco-friendly data centres.  These solutions continue expanding their reach and prestige in the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region. For example, Atos, a Spain-based global leader in digital transformation, used Delta’s modular UPS solutions to protect their MW data centre. Besides, Delta enabled significant savings for a web-hosting company in Berlin that serves a large German shopping website by integrating Delta InfraSuite’s modular UPS systems, energy-saving RowCool precision cooling and smart power distribution system into their facilities. Delta is also the power behind the world’s largest fast food restaurant in France and a German luxury automobile brand.

Delta’s monoblock Ultron DPS series UPS 160-500kVA is a double-conversion three-phase system featuring IGBT rectifier technology to achieve leading AC-AC efficiency up to 96%. Best-in-class power protection with ideal power and cost efficiency can be achieved by implementing Delta’s monoblock Ultron HPH series UPS, which offers ample scalability from 20kVA to 120kVA with full rated power (kVA = kW) and AC-AC efficiency up to 96%.  Delta’s rackmount single-phase Amplon RT series UPS offers customers a wide power rating up to 10kVA, 1+1 parallel redundancy, high input power factor above 0.99 and low iTHD <5%. These features allow for ideal power protection to high-density servers, networking equipment and entire data centres.

These cutting-edge UPS systems as well as Delta’s entire portfolio on Data Center Infrastructure Solutions will be exhibited from June 11 to 15 during CEBIT 2018, the world’s largest IT trade fair in Hannover, Germany, at Hall 12, stand D113.  Please follow our updates at CEBIT 2018 in real-time by checking #DeltaEMEA and #CEBIT18 via social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram).
