Type3 CAAV5 Based Version 5.10
Launched in 2003, with more than 1000 licences in use around the world, the Type3 software enables the creation of text and the integration of symbols or logos with just a few clicks in CATIA V5, to identify, mark, decorate or personalise parts during the design stages. In the new version, Type3 CAAV5 Based V.5.10, a number of innovations have been introduced to optimise the process further and make it easier to use. These include the entry of text from a single point, deformation-free projections and dongle-free operation.
The Type3 software uses CATIA’s parametric tree to write text directly, and this can then be modified without any need for the laborious importing and exporting of files (e.g. .dxf). In addition, Type3 allows the easy integration of symbols or logos, thanks to its powerful vectorisation tool; you can also use the Type3 library, select the item you want, and position it with just one click. Building on Vision Numeric’s 20 years and more of experience in industrial and artistic engraving, Type3 is the simplest and most comprehensive software on the market. Version 5.10 brings with it many more innovations to facilitate and simplify the integration of text and graphics into CATIA V5.
Some of these innovations, for instance, are to do with the inclusion and editing of texts in CATIA. In the past, for example, you needed to start by drawing a curve to position text. Now, with the “text from a point” function, a single marker is needed. The text can be placed in 9 different preset positions (top-left corner, centre etc.). The point used as a reference position can be an existing point, a vertex, or can simply be created with a right-click. To write several lines, all that is needed is to include the same number of markers as the number of lines. With the “text in arc” function, text is defined directly, following an arc through the selection of three different elements (centre, radius and starting angle). This allows huge flexibility and practicality, particularly for manufacturers in the car industry.
In addition, the Projection and Mapping function algorithms have been completely rewritten to give even better results and reduce the number of operations needed. This new Projection function has been designed to deal with 80% of applications, without the need to use the more time-consuming mapping function. With the new “Conical mapping” function, deformation of the text or image has been reduced. When used for all surfaces whose form is basically conical, this function will give such good results that deformation is barely discernible.
Another new feature is that texts can also be integrated directly into macros, which thus speeds up the work. The new Version 5.10 operates without a hardware key (USB dongle), under the Flexnet publisher licence. Flexnet Publisher also makes it easier to manage Type3 CAA V5.10 implementation. For example, you can instantly find out the rate of licence take-up by each department, so that resources can be optimised.
