Clamping module minimizes set-up times in 3D printing
Short set-up times and high productivity levels in 3D printing are ensured by the fully sealed quick-change pallet module SCHUNK VERO-S NSE-AM mini 78-20, which has been specially designed for the use in additive manufacturing.
This module reflects the concept - tried-and-tested in machining processes over years of set-up of machines for laser sintering (SLS) and laser melting (SLM) in a matter of seconds. With a maximum operating temperature of 200 °C, it is specially equipped for systems with active heating.Its compact dimensions (ø 78 mm, height 20 mm above the machine table) ensure optimum heat flow to the substrate plate, ensuring a rapid change process, since the required target temperature for 3D printing can be reached quickly and production can be started immediately.
The module, which is also suitable for working under an inert gas atmosphere and can also be operated with it. Moreover, it can be fully integrated into the machine table and can be combined with additional modules if desired.
Uniform interface for a consistent process chain
Insertion radii facilitate loading. For use as a single-acting clamping module, the SCHUNK range also includes a version with an integrated anti-twist protection. With the turbo function, which is integrated as standard, the pull-down force per module is 1,500 N. The actual clamping is applied without any external energy supply via spring force, is form-fit and self-locking.
Even in the case of a sudden pressure drop the substrate or base plates stay safely clamped. The repeat accuracy amounts to < 0.005 mm. A pneumatic system pressure of 6 bar is enough for opening the module.
Since the module's interface is identical to the interface for VERO-S NSE mini 90-25 clamping modules for machine tools, generatively manufactured components including base plate can be directly exchanged on the machine tool for the purpose of reworking. Therefore, a continuous process chain can be implemented from three-dimensional printing to the machine tool up to the measuring machine.
