KONE to equip Nanning Metro Line 4 in China

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, will deliver 29 elevators and 125 escalators for the first phase of Metro Line 4 in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China.

Once completed, the line will form an important connection between the east and west of Nanning Rail Transit network, strengthening the city's multi-center development.

The Nanning Metro Line 4 will be 24.6 kilometers in length and have 19 underground stations, four of which are connected to other metro lines. The two terminal stations will be Hongyun Road Station in the west and Longgang Station in the east.

To ensure smooth and safe people flow along the metro line with approximately one hundred thousand passengers daily, KONE will equip 10 stations from Hongyun Road Station to Headquarter Station with 29 KONE MonoSpace^® elevators and 125 KONE TransitMaster™ TM140 escalators. Additionally, the contract includes five years of maintenance.

Three metro lines are currently in service and in future, the Nanning metro system will include in total eight lines. "We are excited to be a part of this extensive project and deliver our solutions to improve the flow of urban life in Nanning and to further strengthen the development of the district," says William B. This first phase of Nanning Metro Line 4 is estimated to be completed in the end of 2020, and it is developed by Nanning Rail Transit Co., Ltd.

KONE booked the order in the second quarter of 2019.
