New aerospace contract for Icon Polymer
Icon Polymer Group, a technology company in engineered polymer products, is building on its reputation for safety-critical components with a new contract to supply fire seals for the Bombardier* CSeries* commercial jet.
Spirit AeroSystems is designing and building the pylon, a specialised aerostructure that holds an aircraft's engine and its casing to the wing, for the CS100* and CS300* aircraft models. Designed for the growing 100- to 149-seat market, Bombardier's CSeries family of aircraft combines advanced materials, leading-edge technology and proven methods to meet commercial airline requirements in 2013 and beyond.
Icon Polymer sales director Neal Hillier said: "Winning this contract reflects our expertise in high quality components for a range of safety-critical applications and we are delighted to be working with Spirit AeroSystems on this project."
The Icon Polymer Group, which has manufacturing facilities in Retford, Nottinghamshire, and Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, designs and manufactures high performance, safety-critical, polymer-based components for aerospace, defence, transportation, power, energy and various industrial markets. Its products range from aerodynamic seals and air-to-air refuelling hoses to customised vibration control components in rail and construction vehicles. The business exports across the world, including to China, Russia, South America and the United States.
