Taking place from Monday 11th to Friday 15th October at venues across the city, Birmingham Tech Week is a festival of digital, technology and innovation to celebrate advancements across the West Midlands.

Manufacturing-focused activities kick off on Wednesday 13th October, with the Demonstration Day at the Aston Conference Centre.

WM5G project partners will be on hand to support the live demonstrations, who will be running sessions on connecting machine sensors, including video demonstrations. The event will be an opportunity for manufacturers to gain an insight into how digital technologies can be used to support true productivity.

On Thursday 14th October, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in WM5G’s networking event – What is next for connectivity? – at 9 Brindley Place. Manufacturing experts Riccardo Weber will be on hand to answer queries and give advice to manufacturers looking to progress along their digital journey.

Riccardo will be joined by Ian Bouquet-Taylor from AE Aerospace, who are currently working with WM5G to deploy a 5G private network in the factory to explore and trial three 5G use cases that could transform their operations. Ian will be sharing insights from AE Aerospace’s digital journey experience to date.

As part of the 5G focused day, Explore and Demonstrate sessions will run throughout the afternoon. This will include a Manufacturing Explore session. The opportunity to hear from leaders in the field will help manufacturers who are looking to grow and progress along their digital journey.

WM5G’s Manufacturing Innovation Lead, Riccardo Weber, will be a keynote speaker on the Advanced Manufacturing Panel, sponsored by HSBC.

With digital networks increasingly being relied upon to drive productivity within manufacturing, WM5G’s brand-new programme, Manufacturing - The Digital Journey has been designed to support all manufacturers on their digital-powered journey to greater productivity.

Riccardo said:
“We are very much looking forward to Birmingham Tech Week, and having the opportunity to meet and network with manufacturers from across the region. Our aim is to encourage and support SMEs in embracing digital technologies to propel their productivity and growth into the future.

“The team will be on hand to answer questions and give advice to manufacturers of all capabilities, as well as showcasing how manufacturers can be supported on their digital journey through our new Manufacturing – The Digital Journey programme.”
