Pilz was the first company to receive the UKCA (United Kingdom Conformity Assessment) certificate from TÜV SÜD, for its modular safety relay myPNOZ. Due to Brexit, the existing CE mark used in the European Union will be replaced in the United Kingdom of Great Britain (UK) by the UKCA certificate, which will apply there.
Certification ensures that customers outside the United Kingdom of Great Britain, who use the Pilz myPNOZ in their plant and machinery, can continue to export to Great Britain in compliance with the directives. TÜV Süd, a testing body officially recognised by the British government's department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy BEIS, confirmed UKCA compliance for the modular safety relay myPNOZ early in 2022.
Further PNOZ safety relays for UK
Following this successful approval, TÜV Süd will work with the automation expert Pilz to certify more devices from the PNOZ range of safety relays to UKCA. So even once the Brexit transition period ends on 1 January 2023, there will be a comprehensive PNOZ portfolio available to import into Great Britain – alongside other Pilz product ranges.
UKCA instead of CE mark post-Brexit
The UKCA quality mark replaces the CE mark from the EU single market, which will continue to be accepted for product approval on the British market until the end of 2022. Once the transition period has ended, UKCA certification will be mandatory for all products that are exported and sold into the UK (England, Wales and Scotland).
myPNOZ – new generation of safety relays
Pilz has developed a digital, universal concept for its new type of modular safety relay myPNOZ, from selection through to order: myPNOZ allows you to build safe solutions to customers' specific requirements, individually in batch size 1. myPNOZ monitors the following safety functions: E-STOP, safety gates, light curtains, two-hand controls (IIIA/C) and enabling switches, and consists of a head module with up to a maximum of eight expansion modules, which can be freely combined. In the corresponding online tool myPNOZ Creator you can assemble a needs-based safety solution from a wide range of options.
