NEW BUSINESS WINS SUPPORT IMI CRITICAL ENGINEERING’S CONTINUED EXPANSION IN MALAYSIA
Following a number of sizeable new business wins, IMI Critical Engineering, the global leader in flow control solutions for the oil & gas, power and petrochemical industries, is set invest heavily in order to increase the manufacturing and commercial footprint of its operation in Malaysia.
IMI Critical Engineering’s IMI Remosa business, which designs and manufactures integrated flow systems for severe applications, has experienced significant growth in recent times, particularly following the award of a major new contract for the Rapid Project in Malaysia. As a result, it has taken the strategic decision to increase its presence in Kuala Lumpur, widely considered as the main hub for the oil & gas sector in Asia, in a move that will see it re-locate commercial and senior technical field service specialists to the city.IMI Remosa will supply slide and diverter valves to the Rapid Project with Petronas, in a contract worth several million Euros. What makes this particularly impressive is the scale of the project, which aims to build a world-class, state-of-the-art integrated refinery and petrochemical complex with a capacity of 300,000 barrels per day, producing gasoline, diesel to Euro 4 and 5 specifications, as well as supplying feedstock for the petrochemical complex.
Increasing its presence in Malaysia, an area of key strategic importance, will support IMI Critical Engineering in achieving its ambitious growth targets by positioning itself in closer to key customers based in the Far East. The new location will serve as the primary contact point for customers in the region while also opening up new aftermarket opportunities, including spare parts, field service and planned maintenance.
Fulvio Menini, Export Sales Director for IMI Remosa, explained: “IMI Critical Engineering is committed to sustaining high levels of growth through investment in attractive markets. In this instance, we have identified an excellent opportunity and have allocated resources accordingly, allowing us to bring our world-class products and solutions to areas where they can add real value.
“The award of the contract is a result of the strong commitment and dedication to customer support by the IMI Remosa team and further orders for butterfly valves from the refinery are expected.”
