FIVES TO PRESENT HYDROGEN BURNER DEVELOPMENTS PRESENTED AT INFUB
Fives will present its new generation hydrogen burners at the 14th European Conference on Industrial Furnaces and Boilers (INFUB), taking place on April 2-5, 2024 in Albufeira, Portugal.
The European Conference on Industrial Furnaces and Boilers offers insights into industrial technologies and carbon-neutral processes for converting or using thermal energy from combustion. It represents an important opportunity to discover the latest research and developments to improve combustion control, optimize energy efficiency and reduce pollutant emissions.
Advancements in green technologies
The steel industry is increasingly using hydrogen as a green fuel for reheating furnaces and steel processing lines to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.
In this context, a team of experts from Fives will present advancements in the development of a new reheating furnace burner. It uses a blend of hydrogen and natural gas in a range from 0 to 100% hydrogen, with a capacity from 1 to 6 MW and a long and short flame mode for optimal control of the heating profile. The industrial validation of this burner is planned for 2025 as part of the TWINGHY project, co-funded by the European Union.
Another Fives’ presentation will focus on the use of alternative fuels in strip processing lines, highlighting numerical and experimental developments of burners to evaluate the impact of hydrogen on NOx emissions.
Don’t miss the Fives’ presentations at Vidamar Hotels & Resorts Algarve:
- “New generation burner for 0 to 100 % hydrogen flexibility in reheating furnaces” by Hassan Mohanna, RDI Engineer at Fives Stein, a Fives’ subsidiary;
- “Hydrogen combustion burner for non-oxidizing furnaces in steel processing lines” by Sébastien Caillat, RDI Expert at Fives Stein.
