I/O modules and converters for the ExpertDAQ brand from Acceed
In times of AI, Industry 4.0, Big Data, Deep Learning and further algorithm-based technologies, it sounds almost anachronistic if we refer to I/O modules, that is to say hardware classics. However, this assessment is not fully correct. Rather the opposite: the relevance and advantages of I/O architectures are also still apparent nowadays and are undeniable even if the term is losing its attractiveness. Therefore, the German distributor Acceed also still banks on the globally used hardware from the experienced manufacturer TOPSCCC (founded in 1987) and its ExpertDAQ brand within its the professional network technology portfolio.
Although autonomous vehicles and robots draw attention, if the required data input is missing even the “smartest” system consisting of processor power and software is helpless. Normally, sensors, meters or similar components are responsible for recording reality as data. However, they do not generally possess an integrated function for transmission to, data conversion or integration in a network or a different processing structure. Therefore, above-all the small I/O modules, specific relays and data converters are the central components in architectures of the industrial Internet of Things and Smart Industry applications.
Basically, I/O modules function as mediators. The sensor or transducer signals are received at the inputs and response signals transferred to the controlled devices at the outputs. Their major functions include communication, synchronisation and time control, error recognition and data transfer management. They optimise energy efficiency, security, comfort and operating costs. I/O modules are also a must when retrofitting older machines, systems and even buildings and outdoor areas. They alone enable central monitoring, control and maintenance. If not the core, I/O modules however denote the backbone for connectivity and interoperability in all industrial automation applications.
With the ExpertDAQ brand devices, Acceed offers the full product range of I/O modules for professional controlling and digital and analogue automation, RS-485 and Modbus, relays, meters, timers, as well as converters to RS-232, USB and TCP/IP.
The latest LoRa gateways provide the opportunity to link IoT remote modules with a local network or a host computer over larger distances. Data transfer via LoRa gateways is primarily intended for the ISM frequency bandwidths (Industrial, Scientific, Medical) using 862 to 936 MHz. The gateways are equally appropriate for industrial environments and are available as specialised models for various conversion tasks: Modbus TCP, USB, serial (RS-232/485) and digital I/O controllers. All components do justice to the increased requirements in the industrial environment, for example pertaining to extended ambient temperature high physical stress.
Acceed emphasises that also the requirement from the customer side for very short delivery times is implemented. Most of the important components can be delivered immediately or fast. Tested customer-specific configurations can be delivered in high quantities.
