Elmo

Twitter Product Description

At an astonishing 18 grams and less than 13 cm3 in volume, Elmo’s Gold Twitter Servo drive delivers up to 4000W of qualitative power, and ultra-high current up to 50A/100 V. The Gold Twitter is not only “tiny” but also “mighty”, possessing highly advanced servo capabilities, while fully supporting EtherCAT and CANopen field-bus communication standards. The Twitter is a result of the ingenuity and innovation in both the power stage design design and motion control capabilities. The Twitter is utilized in various applications worldwide in a wide range of industries. One particular area of success is the robotics industry, where the Twitter’s small footprint and its “drive level intelligence” both play a key role. The Gold Twitter comes as a component (non stand alone), ready to be mounted directly onto the customer’s PCB design. Achieving 4kW at ultra high currents with an extremely small footprint is made possible due to superb power switching efficiency. The Twitter utilized Elmo’s proprietary “Fast and Soft Switching Technology”, resulting in efficiency greater than 99%, yet with negligible EMI. The Gold-Twitter is compliant with international safety, EMC standards, and STO certification (TÜV). The G-Twitter is an excellent solution for robotic applications requiring top servo performance, but which are also space limited. Twitter’s tiny footprint conforms to our philosophy of “Mount it Anywhere”, even right at the robot joint, or axis of motion. This not only reduced overall application design and weight, but also reduced hardware, cabling, and labor. Despite of the highest power density in the industry, the Twitter’s size does not compromise any of Elmo’s servo performance capabilities. The Gold Twitter can drive any servo motor and operates in current, velocity, and advanced position modes. It supports any feedback sensor in single, dual, or gantry loop. Easily configured and tuned using Elmo’s advanced yet simple to use Application Studio (EASII), the driver can operate as a single-axis control solution or as part of a multi-axis control system in a distributed configuration real-time network. Many applications use several Twitters for all axes of motion, in conjunction with Elmo’s upper level EtherCAT based multi-axis motion controllers.
