Safety and innovation for mobile hydraulics: Gefran’s sensors excellence showcased @EIMA 2024
Gefran offers a wide range of smart sensors, designed to satisfy every application need for this market.
These solutions will be showcased at the 46th edition of EIMA, the international exhibition for agricultural machines, planned from the 6th to 10th of November in Bologna. At booth B20 – hall 15, Gefran will present various product novelties dedicated to the agricultural sector. At the show, together with the TWIIST multivariable transducer and the GSH-A multivariable position sensor, there will also be the GRA rotary sensors, dedicated to the control of accelerator pedal position in tractors and agricultural vehicles. In addition, the new KMC pressure sensor with digital output will also be unveiled, available now with CANopen safety interface.
‘Gefran’s consolidated application know-how in the field of mobile hydraulics translates into a high-performance solutions value proposition, designed for the complete set-up of machines. In addition to being synonymous with precision and reliability, even under severe working conditions, Gefran sensors guarantee both operator protection and machine efficiency,’ says Edoardo Zilioli, Gefran’s Sensors Marketing Manager, and concludes, ’Accordingly, the launch of the KMC CANopen Safety series represents our company’s constant focus on the development of intelligent solutions, which implement digital communication protocols and advanced diagnostic tools.
KMC: now available with CANopen Safety interface
The KMC pressure transducers are based on a film sensible element technology, placed on steel membrane. The latest generation of SMD electronic, combined with a compact design of the stainless steel body, makes these sensors an extremely robust and performing solution for applications in agriculture, earth moving and material handling sectors. The new model, EN 50325 certified, integrates even higher standards of functional safety, guaranteed by the CANopen Safety digital communication output.
GSH-A: one sensor for linear position and tilt angle measurement
Available with CAN Open output, the new GSH-A multi-variable wire position transducer uses Hall-effect technology for linear measurement up to 12,500mm and a single-axis MEMS inclinometer for simultaneous detection of position and angle (z) of inclination. The high degree of environmental protection (IP67), together with signal redundancy and superior resistance to shock (up to 50g) and vibration (up to 20g), ensures excellent performance in many typical mobile hydraulics applications. In particular, the GSH-A transducers are the ideal solution for aerial platforms, material handling vehicles, fork-lift trucks and fork-lift trucks, as well as agricultural vehicles and excavators.
TWIIST: the new frontier in measurement technology
This multivariable, non-contact position transducer is synonymous with cutting-edge technology, by virtue of a patented measurement system based on the 3-dimensional Hall Effect. In addition to position, TWIIST records additional process variables, including travel speed, acceleration, vibration, spatial inclination angle (x, y, z), actual temperature and maximum peak reached, working hours and number of kilometres travelled by the cursor. The two versions available, one with digital IO-Link output and the other with CANopen connectivity, meet the requirements of the Industry 4.0 and of mobile vehicle use, respectively. These features allow for a precise condition monitoring, detecting any irregularities in machine operations. Thus, TWIIST stands out for its extreme versatility within a wide range of applications, including controlling the height of the spraying unit on sprayers, adjusting the movement of the footboards on fruit harvesters, managing the suspension and positioning of the cab on tractors and agricultural vehicles, and adjusting the amount of feed delivered in self-propelled distribution mixers.
