WEG, the global leader in industrial automation and electrical equipment, has launched the PLC200, the newest addition to its programmable logic controllers (PLC) portfolio. The PLC200 is designed to improve control for small to medium-sized automation across a wide array of industries including manufacturing, process control, packaging and infrastructure. The PLC200 stands out for its compact design and high-performance hardware, offering modularity, scalability and intelligent connectivity in a streamlined package.
Now available worldwide, the PLC200 combines fast processing, modular expandability and built-in network connectivity in a small and efficient, easy-to-deploy unit. With its user-friendly architecture and compatibility with WEG’s wider automation portfolio, the PLC200 offers versatility and efficiency in small to medium-sized control environments.
The PLC200 runs on a 24 VDC supply and features a 400 MHz ARM Cortex M7 processor. This helps ensure fast response times, reliable performance and energy efficiency — even in harsh environments. It offers eight digital inputs and four digital outputs in plug-and-play format, along with up to four high-speed dual-channel inputs reaching 150 kHz for time-sensitive operations.
“This launch highlights WEG’s commitment to accessible, cutting-edge solutions that enhance efficiency and adaptability in today’s industrial environments,” said Aluisio João Corrêa, Automation Sales supervisor at WEG. “The PLC200’s plug-and-play design simplifies installation and maintenance, while compatibility with WEG’s RUW100, PLC410 and PLC500 modules ensures a flexible and cost-effective approach to automation.”
Designed to enable connectivity with modern industrial communication networks, the PLC200 supports both Modbus Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and EtherNet/IP (Ethernet Industrial Protocol) through its built-in Ethernet port. Additionally, a PLC201 version which shares all others features of PLC200 series, supports the CanOpen communication protocol. With Conformité Européenne (CE) and United Kingdom Conformity Assessed (UKCA) certifications, the PLC200 series meets the highest international safety and quality standards.
One of the most valuable aspects of the PLC200 is its support for local expansion — the device accommodates up to eight expansion modules. This allows users to tailor configurations with digital and analogue input/output cards, including temperature sensors such as thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors (RTDs).
The PLC200 is also fully programmable via WEG’s WPS® software — a tool for programming, monitoring and configuring automation equipment. It supports Ladder Diagram (LD) and Structured Text (ST) languages, in line with the IEC 61131-3 international standard. Designed for intuitive development and fast debugging, WPS® streamlines workflows and boosts productivity.
The WPS® software is free to download from WEG’s official website, and is regularly updated for optimal performance and compatibility.
"We’re committed to continuously evolving our PLC range in line with emerging market trends,” added Corrêa. “The launch of the new PLC200 underlines WEG’s strong focus on helping industries significantly reduce energy consumption and commit to more sustainable practices.”
