Plastic in cars reduces their weight. Currently, however, camshaft modules, which are a key component of powertrains, are still being made from aluminum. Now a research team from the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT, in collaboration with their partners, has succeeded in manufacturing a camshaft module from fiber-reinforced thermoset polymers. This lightweight design element helps lower engine weight and reduces assembly costs. It is currently available as a functional demonstrator.
The Precision Fluidics Division of Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, announced the release of their new Parker LM-Pro linear motor proportional valve targeted at the respiratory and anaesthesia markets.
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has developed a new synchronous motor with significantly higher energy efficiency (IE5+). It is a supplement to the standardised geared motor variants of the LogiDrive systems and is particularly suitable for reducing the number of variants. This makes the IE5+ synchronous motor particularly suitable for use in intralogistics.
With the new Memor 20, Datalogic is launching a PDA that empowers users in retail, field services, logistic environments, and healthcare, with a device that combines the best features of a smartphone with the highest standards of enterprise level devices.
What should you do if you want an ergonomic lifting aid, but your ceiling height is too low for conventional crane systems? Schmalz’s solution is a modular flat jib made of aluminum that guarantees smooth movement sequences, even in low rooms. This novelty arrived at just the right time for Erkodent: The dental thermoforming device manufacturer wanted to optimize the packaging process at the end of the assembly line and needed a solution that left enough space for an air-conditioning system that had already been planned.
