SIGMATEK's Safety Control SCP 211 communicates with FSoE

Flexible safety is an important component of intelligent machine designs. S-DIAS Safety provides users with a lean and economical solution that ensures maximum reliability in safety-related applications (SIL 3, PL e, Cat. 4).

The SCP 211 safety controller from SIGMATEK now offers a master for the FSoE safety protocol (Functional Safety over EtherCAT). Using the master functionality, FSoE slave devices from different manufacturers can be integrated into an S-DIAS safety application, where they are controlled and monitored safely. Data can be transferred via EtherCAT or VARAN.

The SCP 211 can be configured as an FSoE master and the safety application projected in the LASAL SAFETYDesigner graphical tool. To do this, the ESI files of the FSoE slave devices are read in. For convenient creation of the safety-related application, the library contains over 50 PLCopen-based safety function blocks such as emergency stop, guard locking, muting, two-hand control, interpolation, etc. The safety program is configured once with all possible optional modules and can then be combined as desired, i.e., there is one safety program for all expansion stages of a machine.

In addition to the SCP 211, which is only 25 mm wide, the modular S-DIAS safety solution includes a wide range of safety I/O modules that enable customized safety applications.

For users, the expansion of the SCP 211 with FSoE enables flexible and broad implementation of safety-related functions of cross-manufacturer safety components, for example, with controls, motion, robotics, and AGVs.

S-DIAS Safety can also be used as a stand-alone solution. It is therefore possible to simply expand existing systems with safety functions as required.
