Leonardo has unveiled Michelangelo Dome in Rome—a next-generation integrated defence architecture designed to protect critical infrastructure and strategic national and European assets amid rising global threats.
Developed as a modular, open and scalable multi-domain system, Michelangelo Dome reinforces Leonardo’s strategy to lead in Global Security. The platform is built to secure sensitive urban areas, vital territories and high-value infrastructure through a unified network that fuses advanced technologies across land, sea, air, space and cyber.
Rather than a standalone product, Michelangelo Dome is a comprehensive architecture combining next-generation sensors, cyber-defence platforms, command-and-control systems, AI-driven analytics and coordinated effectors. Together, these elements create a dynamic security envelope capable of detecting, tracking and neutralizing a wide spectrum of threats, from hypersonic missiles and drone swarms to naval incursions and hostile ground forces.
Leveraging advanced sensor fusion and predictive algorithms, the system can anticipate hostile actions, optimize responses and automatically coordinate the most effective countermeasures, even during large-scale, synchronized attacks.
With the launch of Michelangelo, Leonardo strengthens its position as a European leader in multi-domain security, contributing to strategic autonomy, technological resilience and deeper integration of European and NATO defence capabilities. The initiative also aligns with broader continental cooperation programmes and showcases Italy’s industrial excellence on the global stage.
