How Nexans Demonstrates Differentiation in Subsea Cable Repair

In 2025, Nexans completed the replacement of a damaged section of the 145 kV SCFF subsea cable supplying Corfu, Greece. The cable had been compromised in 2024 after impact from a ship’s anchor, prompting the Greek transmission operator IPTO to launch a replacement project in March 2025. The work was finalized in November 2025, restoring a critical part of the island’s power connection.

Execution Focused on Safety, Precision and Coordination
The project advanced according to plan despite the technical complexity of repairing a high-voltage SCFF cable in offshore conditions. It was executed with zero safety incidents and relied on close coordination between IPTO and Nexans’ engineering, marine, and project-management teams. The Nexans Skagerrak vessel carried out the offshore operations, supported by streamlined mobilization and demobilization workflows.

Strengthening Nexans’ Position in IMR Capabilities
By delivering a rapid, high-quality replacement on a strategic power link, Nexans reinforced its position in the growing global market for subsea Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) services. The project highlights the company’s ability to combine specialized technical expertise, proven vessel readiness and disciplined offshore execution—key differentiators for cable owners seeking reliable partners for fast-response repair operations.
