Rosenberger Optical Solutions & Infrastructure (Rosenberger OSI) has enhanced the operational reliability of SYT Technologies by deploying its Heavy Duty 600 fibre-optic connectivity solution within SYT’s high-performance long-range optronic and reconnaissance systems.
Designed for surveillance, reconnaissance, and anti-drone applications, SYT Technologies’ optronic systems operate in some of the harshest outdoor environments. To ensure long-term performance and operational continuity under conditions involving dust, humidity, temperature fluctuations, and frequent field handling, SYT selected Rosenberger OSI’s Heavy Duty 600 technology as a resilient, low-maintenance fibre connectivity solution.
“Thanks to Heavy Duty 600 technology, we can guarantee reliable performance and operational continuity even in the most severe environments,” said Bruno Demouron, Sales Manager at Rosenberger OSI France. “Our consultative approach and technical expertise allow us to deliver concrete solutions that directly address the critical requirements of our partners.”
Fibre connectivity designed for harsh operating conditions
SYT’s optronic systems are deployed in environments where conventional fibre connections are prone to contamination and failure. According to Laurent Hartanerot, Embedded Software Engineer at SYT Technologies, maintaining connector cleanliness in the field is often impractical, making robustness and tolerance to contamination essential.
Rosenberger OSI’s Heavy Duty 600 solution—comprising reinforced receptacles and ruggedised fibre-optic cables—provides stable, high-availability connectivity between optronic turrets and control infrastructure. The connector supports up to six independent fibres, allowing dedicated separation of data streams such as security, video, control, and quality-of-service, ensuring full network isolation and system integrity.

Key benefits: durability, simplicity, and operational continuity
The Heavy Duty 600 technology meets SYT Technologies’ stringent technical and operational requirements, delivering:
- Easy deployment with reduced field complexity
- Extreme environmental resistance (IP67/68), even during outdoor disconnection and reconnection
- Optical stability without the need for complex on-site cleaning
- Rapid, intuitive handling compatible with gloves and requiring no special tools
- Reduced contamination risks that could lead to critical system failures
- Improved operational readiness through simplified maintenance procedures
“Heavy Duty solutions are designed for demanding environments,” added Demouron. “Every project benefits from our focus on reliability and operational continuity.”
Close engineering collaboration and successful qualification
The integration of Heavy Duty 600 required close collaboration between Rosenberger OSI and SYT Technologies’ engineering teams. New Heavy Duty receptacles were integrated into the optronic turrets while preserving mechanical integrity and sealing, with particular attention paid to preventing any intrusion that could compromise sensitive optical sensors.
Despite strict constraints related to weight, volume, and mechanical design, all qualification and validation tests were completed successfully, confirming both the robustness and performance of the solution.
Proven results and future standardisation
Testing demonstrated measurable improvements, including enhanced system reliability, increased resistance to environmental stress, simplified field assembly and disassembly, and reduced operator stress during tactical deployments.
“All qualification tests were positive and conclusive; the overall reliability of the system is now assured,” concluded Hartanerot.
Following this successful deployment, Heavy Duty 600 is becoming a standard connectivity solution for SYT Technologies’ sensitive and mission-critical projects, supporting long-term performance and reliability in current and future optronic systems.
