Rosenberger Optical Solutions & Infrastructure (Rosenberger OSI) has implemented a consolidated passive IT infrastructure for a leading global technology company in the optical and optoelectronics sector, deploying its high-density cabling solution across two data centre locations.
At the core of the project is the PreCONNECT® SMAP-G2 UHD 19” system, designed to deliver high port density while enabling the combined integration of copper and fibre-optic technologies within a single height unit.
High-density infrastructure across two sites
The project was initiated in early 2025 in cooperation with EDC Datacenter GmbH, the customer’s data centre planning partner. During the competitive tender phase, Rosenberger OSI secured the contract based on the system’s compact design, technical performance, and ability to accommodate multiple transmission media within one platform. A ten-year system warranty—backed by installation from certified Rosenberger OSI technicians—also contributed to the decision.
Implementation took place at two locations with distinct requirements:
- Site 1: Consolidation of existing infrastructure within container-based data centres to ensure uninterrupted operations during migration.
- Site 2: Establishment of a new standalone data centre designed to assume full IT load in the future.
Components were delivered in June 2025, with installation completed by September 2025. A total of 69 PreCONNECT® SMAP-G2 UHD enclosures were deployed at the first site and 23 at the second.
