Trane Launches Containerized BESS Rental in EMEA and ANZ

Trane has launched a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) rental offering across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as Australia and New Zealand. The large-scale, containerized units are designed to store electrical energy and provide reliable power during peak demand, variable tariffs or grid instability, particularly for temperature-controlled and HVAC applications.

230 kWh Containerized Storage Platform
The BESS 200 unit marks Trane Rental Services’ first battery storage system housed in a 10-foot container. The system provides battery capacity starting at 230 kWh with a 50 kW output rating.

Integrated with Thermo King refrigeration technology, the container is engineered to maintain stable internal operating conditions. The system is specified for ambient temperatures ranging from –30 °C to +50 °C and offers an IP55 protection rating, supporting operation in demanding outdoor environments.

The fully autonomous battery pack can be deployed in both temporary and permanent installations, including cold storage containers and small heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Peak Shaving and Grid Support
The rental BESS is intended for applications such as peak cost shaving, where energy is stored during low-tariff periods and discharged during peak pricing windows. This approach can reduce operating costs in regions with high energy price volatility.

Battery storage also provides zero-direct-emission power at the point of use, which can support decarbonization targets on construction sites, remote facilities and urban projects with emission restrictions.

For customers facing grid constraints or unstable supply, the system offers supplementary power capacity without reliance on fuel-based generation.

Modular Rental Portfolio
The BESS 200 expands Trane’s rental power portfolio, which also includes diesel generator sets, hybrid generator-battery configurations, and modular battery systems starting at 35 kWh.

Rental availability for short- or long-term periods allows customers to avoid capital expenditure and asset management responsibilities. This model supports temporary energy demand, seasonal capacity requirements and project-based installations.

Telematics and Operational Monitoring
All Trane battery systems can be equipped with telematics for real-time monitoring and alarm notification. Continuous status tracking supports operational reliability and proactive maintenance.

By combining containerized battery storage, integrated refrigeration control and flexible rental terms, Trane’s BESS offering addresses energy storage requirements in temperature-controlled logistics, HVAC support and distributed power applications across EMEA and Australia/New Zealand markets.
