WIKA LS-1000 Sensor Gains ATEX Certification

WIKA Group has introduced ATEX and IECEx-certified versions of its LS-1000 submersible pressure sensor, enabling reliable hydrostatic level measurement in hazardous environments.

With the new certifications, the sensor can now be used in ATEX zones 0 and 1 as well as IECEx zones 0, 1 and 2, expanding its application potential across industries where explosive atmospheres may occur.

Reliable level monitoring in hazardous areas
The LS-1000 is designed for continuous hydrostatic level measurement of liquid media in industrial environments.

Typical applications include:
  • Wastewater lifting stations
  • Pumping stations
  • Oil and fuel storage tanks
  • Environmental monitoring installations
  • Power generation facilities
The sensor measures liquid levels in ranges from 1 to 10 meters, enabling accurate monitoring of tanks, wells, and reservoirs.

Designed for accuracy and durability
The LS-1000 provides long-term stability of 0.2%, ensuring accurate measurements with minimal signal drift over time.

Its stainless-steel housing is permanently sealed to IP68 protection, allowing reliable operation in submerged conditions and harsh industrial environments.

Additional durability features include:
  • Specially designed cable with integrated strain relief
  • Potted cable inlet for enhanced protection
  • Helium leak testing during final inspection to detect micro-leaks and structural defects
Energy-efficient and maintenance-free operation
The sensor is designed for low-maintenance operation, reducing downtime and total cost of ownership.

Its ratiometric output signal of 0.5–4.5 V consumes less than 5 mA, allowing the device to operate using a 5 V battery supply for extended periods without frequent replacement.

With its combination of hazardous-area certification, durable construction, and energy-efficient design, the LS-1000 submersible pressure sensor from WIKA supports reliable level measurement in demanding industrial environments.
