Eaton sells MTX interest and focuses on lean automation solutions with SmartWire-DT
A leading manufacturer of components and systems in electrical engineering and automation technology, Eaton is selling its 50 percent interest in the Eaton/Turck joint venture MT ElektroniX GmbH (MTX) to Turck and focusing on its own interconnection and communications system, SmartWire-DT.
In 2002, Eaton – at the time under the name Moeller GmbH – and Hans Turck GmbH & Co. KG established the joint venture with 50 percent stakes. MT ElectroniX GmbH (Moeller-Turck ElectroniX) is a legally independent company and exclusively carried out development work for the two partner companies in the area of field bus technology for factory automation. In the course of their strategic development, both partners have agreed to transfer responsibility for MTX activities to Turck. The partners have set out their further cooperation in a service contract. This ensures that Eaton products developed in the joint venture will continue to be developed by MTX for Eaton in future. With the maxim “from lean connectivity to lean automation,” Eaton is pushing the integrated connection and communications technology SmartWire-DT in the field of industrial communications technology for switchgear. “In line with the maxim ‘the easy way to connect,’ the SmartWire-DT ASIC integrates the whole spectrum of requirements such as the transfer of small volumes of data in the price-sensitive sensor/actuator technology field as well as the transfer of higher volumes of data such as are required for the integration of high-performance equipment – for example frequency inverters, electronic motor protection or circuit breakers,” said Dr. Martin U. Schefter, Business Unit Manager Industrial Automation and Managing Director of Eaton Industries Holding GmbH. More info at: www.eaton.com/moellerproducts, Image No.: MI-11-1207 Caption: Dr. Martin U.
