Corporate Interview
1. Who is REDEX? (Bruno Grandjean (*) ?)With a consolidated turnover of 50M€, 7 subsidiaries across the world, 300 employees worldwide and 50% of its turnover made outside Europe, REDEX is an European leader in Mechatronics providing critical components for ultra-high precision machines around the world.
Airplanes, cars, boats, wind mills and power plant components are manufactured on the most modern machine-tools equipped with REDEX Drives, justifying the company’s motto: "The Machine-Tool Drives Company".
REDEX invests 8% of its annual turnover in R&D. Its products are 100% designed and manufactured in its two French plants where about 20 M€ were invested during the last five years to achieve the top level of quality manufacturing. Particular efforts were made on precision, productivity and organization with the most modern machine-tools. In North America, Andantex, USA assembles, repairs and services all Redex products that are manufactured in France in order to provide seamless service to the American market.
A continuous decrease of its industrial environment footprint was the second pillar of its recent years investments through PV panels installed of the factory roof, wind mills used for ancillaries power supply, and a complete industrial by-products recycling unit.
2. What is your business in North America ?
REDEX has been active in North America since the 70's. Based in the New Jersey, the local sales and service center ANDANTEX USA Inc. relies on a team of highly skilled sales and support engineers.
Often meeting machine builders, rebuilders and end-users throughout America, ANDANTEX' experienced application engineers provide deep expertise in product sizing and integration. The ANDANTEX plant also includes a machine shop and repair center where Redex products can be serviced in North America. This insures domestic support of all products sold in North America.
REDEX is supplier of most of the leading world class machine-tool builders including Mag-Hebron, Mag-Fond Du Lac, Electroimpact and Ingersoll Machine in North America. Additionally, Andantex works with many companies that rebuild large machine tools. Finally, large users rely on Andantex engineering assistance to convert older machine tools from manual to CNC.
3. In which sectors do you see as the biggest development opportunities for your products?
REDEX is a key partner of machine builders, whenever accuracy and performances are required. We are offering considerable engineering expertise with complete state-of-the art product portfolio, including: versatile low-backlash reducers, ready to use, high torque milling spindle, spindle gearmotors, feed gearboxes with integrated lubrication, rotary table preloaded drives.
These sophisticated Mechatronics systems allow machine builder to easily access the latest technologies and to concentrate on their core business.
4. How do you convince American companies of your products?
We build partnerships with machine builders by offering the maximum engineering for selection and integration of our products into their machines. This allows our customers to optimize their engineering assets to their technology. Furthermore, REDEX-ANDANTEX complete solutions are always at the forefront of technology, including Eco-Design, energy efficiency and components recyclability, which are todays major concerns for leading machine manufacturers. One supplier for the complete drive system insures reliability and long term partnership.
In-house manufacturing and testing allow a total control over quality and premiere service level. REDEX products are 100% compliant with machine-tool quality manufacturing and testing standards.
In addition, REDEX-ANDANTEX offers its 3 strategic service centers in USA, Europe, and Asia providing local maintenance, training and support to OEMs selling products to the world market.
In conclusion, REDEX-ANDANTEX offers high quality, reliable products along with engineering know-how providing customers with value and security.
5. What are the technical highlights you imagine 2012?
2012 is clearly the year of Mechatronics for REDEX. Breaking walls between Control, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is the latest trend that is revolutionizing products. The automotive industry is leading the way with its hybrid cars, machine building is going to follow the same path with new requirement for improved energy efficiency, compactness and higher performances.
REDEX is an active partner of European institutions for product group study. This study aims at identifying and recommending ways to improve the environmental performance of machines throughout their lifetime.
At IMTS REDEX (presented in the ANDANTEX booth) will promote a new range of high quality planetary gearboxes that will set the industry standards in terms of efficiency. REDEX is introducing in the machine tool industry a new gear finishing technology (HQ-GF) that allows a high-reversibility, less noise and above all a decrease of more than 15% of power losses. This new product line will become the energy efficient solution for linear and rotary backlash-free motion with efficiencies above 95%. Thousands of kWH saved over a machine lifetime.
