POWERCIAT2 – CIAT's new 610-1350 kW eco-designed water chiller
POWERCIAT2 is available in two versions – a standard (STD) version designed for the most demanding technical and economical requirements, and a High Energy Efficiency (HEE) version, which is the reference for energy efficient projects. Thanks to its state-of-the-art components, the HEE version of POWERCIAT2 achieves the highest possible energy rating, CLASS A, with an average EER of 3.18 and exceptional levels of seasonal efficiency, proven by an average ESEER of 4.1. In addition to its low energy consumption, POWERCIAT2 offers a power/refrigerant charge ratio of 7 kW of refrigerant/kg R134a – the highest on the market. POWERCIAT2 is currently the only water chiller that combines both micro-channel coil and shell-and-tube dry expansion evaporator technologies. It has been engineered using eco-design principles to minimise its environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle.
Compared to the previous generation of water chillers, POWERCIAT2's first major technological innovation is its all-aluminium micro-channel coil and the many advantages this offers: 45% less refrigerant, 20% lighter machines (making them easier to handle, transport and install on site) and a 20% smaller footprint. The coil is also easy to clean. Its rigid external surface is compatible with high-pressure cleaning and its all-aluminium design eliminates galvanic currents between different metals and offers greater resistance to corrosion. In terms of environmental friendliness, the use of aluminium increases POWERCIAT2's recyclability, lowers emissions and fuel consumption during transport, and reduces the amount of waste requiring treatment at the end of the machine's service life.Drawing on its unique expertise in heat exchange technology, CIAT has designed COREVA2, a new shell-and-tube dry-expansion evaporator for POWERCIAT2. COREVA2's exceptional performance levels offer maximum output, reduced refrigerant charges and optimised pressure drops that enable it to achieve high energy efficiency. This technology is perfectly suited to new environmental constraints and the most stringent European standards.
POWERCIAT2 also features the latest generation of screw compressor that boasts even higher energy efficiency. At partial load, the compressor's continuous regulation using slide control allows it to adjust itself exactly to cooling requirements, thereby limiting the number of starts for each compressor and extending their service life. The reduction in pressure drop, the optimisation of the oil management system and the economiser fitted as standard on each compressor contribute to POWERCIAT2's energy optimisation capabilities.
POWERCIAT2 is available with three noise levels: Standard, Low Noise and Xtra Low Noise. The Xtra Low Noise version has a sound pressure level of 63 dB(A) at 10 metres for just 1350 kW. This remarkable level is achieved thanks to a reduction in noise levels on each component. The latest-generation silent fans automatically adjust the flow of air to cooling requirements, the compressors are fitted on anti-vibration mounts and housed inside acoustically insulated boxes, and the intake pipes are equipped with flexible couplings that prevent the transmission of vibrations.
POWERCIAT2 features the latest generation of CIAT's XtraCONNECT2 controller that is optimised for screw-compressor water chillers. It allows efficient control of POWERCIAT2, features an RS485 interface for BMS connection and is compatible with Modbus/Jbus, Modbus/TCP-IP, LonWorks and BACnet communication protocols. With a choice of 4 possible controls, XtraCONNECT2 offers users the perfect configuration to meet their various needs: water return control, water supply control, water law control based on climate conditions and CRISTOPIA thermal energy storage. XtraCONNECT2's optional energy meter gives real-time measurements of voltage, current, electrical power and electrical power consumption. The log of the 20 most recent incidents, complete with operating readings, helps users in troubleshooting problems quickly and effectively.
POWERCIAT2's partial recovery option uses waste heat to produce free hot water at temperatures of up to 60°C and meet domestic hot water needs in establishments such as hotels.
POWERCIAT2's exceptional performance levels make it the central element of the Hysys® POWER system that provides heating, summer comfort and indoor air quality for buildings in the tertiary sector. For large-scale projects, this optimised system can integrate a CIAT Energy Pool, the most advanced solution to the environmentally-responsible constraints linked to energy production.
