Kontron launches 5G Mobile Private Network for German production facility

Kontron’s 5G Standalone Core network is a turnkey next-generation solution, offering secure and efficient 5G connectivity. Tailored for industrial operations, this pre-integrated product ensures a swift time-to-service deployment, enabling advanced and intelligent operations in diverse environments while safeguarding sensitive data on-site.

“Our 5G Mobile Private Network ensures robust, secure coverage across factory floors and warehouses, designed for industry use with user-friendly features for easy device and network management. It enables seamless mobility for people, assets, and goods, boosting productivity and efficiency while prioritizing security and cost optimisation,” said Janez Öri, 5G MPN and Cloud Director at Kontron in Slovenia.

Kontron’s comprehensive industrial 5G Private Network solution enables new levels of highly secure wireless connectivity with high bandwidth, and low latency, as well as excellent coverage and stability at the Kontron Augsburg manufacturing facility. This modern infrastructure can be managed effortlessly by local IT staff or configured and maintained remotely as a service.

It offers a safe investment in a future-proof, robust networking infrastructure that supports current and future needs for wireless connectivity in the factory and warehouse, enabling highly stable wireless Industry 4.0 use cases in conjunction with secure IT connectivity for mobiles and laptops.

“The versatility of the Kontron 5G Private Mobile network is perfectly tailored for industries like our Augsburg plant with advanced needs for smoothly distributed, inherently stable network coverage, cable-like bandwidth, enhanced privacy, and security. It also offers future support for deterministic transport of mission-critical control data on a converged wireless infrastructure. We will gradually replace our wired infrastructure with wireless 5G to support a much more flexible production scheme with easy-to-reconfigure production islands and optimised processes, like automated, AI–based quality control, improved operational communications, enhanced security and overall paperless processes in manufacturing and warehouse,” said Walter Gruber, Director of Production & Logistics Site Manager Augsburg at Kontron Europe.
