Data Portal Tops the 1 Million Mark Number of monthly downloads reaches new high

High-quality data has become essential for engineering, and a new Eplan Data Portal record proves it: in June 2016, users downloaded around 1,000,000 device and component data, with the trend continuing upward. This clearly demonstrates that there is a great need for manufacturers’ data and that without data integration, everyday life and engineering in particular come to a grinding halt.

Data Portal Tops the 1 Million Mark Number of monthly downloads reaches new high
Monheim, Germany, 26 July 2016 – It’s quite a sensation for solutions provider Eplan: around 1,000,000 parts data were downloaded in just 31 days. It even caught Eplan managers by surprise, as this was something they never expected when they initiated Eplan Data Portal eight years ago. Users’ interest is running extremely high – after all, they’re saving precious time by integrating current data directly into Eplan Project using drag and drop. Right now there are more than 620,000 device data available in the portal, plus more than 1.2 million variants via configuration. The trend moving towards products and solutions compatible with Industry 4.0 is further amplifying the interest in these valuable parts data – data that can be used throughout the entire product development process.

Stefan Domdey, Global Coordinator Eplan Data Portal, explains: “We’re delighted that our portal is being so outstanding received around the world and that the number of downloads is continually increasing. That motivates us to integrate additional manufacturers and their device data.” Intense discussions are going on with component manufacturers worldwide in order to incorporate into the portal these industrial stakeholders who aren’t yet participating in it. So far, the number of manufacturers represented is 147 – and is continually growing. In 2016 alone, Eplan was able to welcome 33 new manufacturers. That equals a growth of 29 per cent and includes globally respected brands such as Belden Cable, Cisco, Hyundai Heavy Industries, LSIS, TE Connectiviy, Wittenstein and Yokogawa.
