PROFIBUS solutions from Yaskawa

Unlike many in its sector, Yaskawa, the solution-supplier and technology owner, is still offering PROFIBUS components, as well as Ethernet . Now, in particular, Yaskawa is confirming its availability guarantee for the 300S+ control system, until at least 2030.

Many older systems and machines are equipped with PROFIBUS and used by control systems, rectifiers and servo drives in numerous applications. Consequently, there are still a large number of existing field bus systems that are running over PROFIBUS. And around 7 percent of them are also using the PROFIBUS communication standard via the network node that was recently installed, in 2024. And that's for good reason: for decentral peripheral components that are used, for example in drive technology, PROFIBUS continues to impress, even today, in many systems, as a fast, robust bus. As a result, systems of this kind can be used, cost-effectively, over their entire lifecycle, without the risk that they might need to be changed.

300S+: the high-speed control system
In addition, if PROFIBUS is used together with the 300S+ control system, integrated devices from different manufacturers can communicate with each other without interface customization. If a system cannot or should not be changed over to PROFINET, Yaskawa offers process security by using the 300S+ and PROFIBUS. This ensures that existing older systems can continue to be operated: an interesting alternative, especially in economically difficult times.

Implementing a 300S+ control system as part of a control system retrofit enables existing industrial systems to be modernized, with increased efficiency and system reliability. Yaskawa's availability guarantee for the 300S+ control system with PROFIBUS connectors gives PROFIBUS application operators the certainty that this will continue to be the case in the future.

EasyConn PROFIBUS connector
A particular example of Yaskawa PROFIBUS components that has proved itself thousands of times is the EasyConn connector for connecting PROFIBUS participants or PROFIBUS network components to the bus cable. The highly visible diagnostic LEDs make installation an easy matter. Users can look at the LEDs at any time, to check the current bus activity status, the status of the connector fuses and power supply, and the bus state. The integrated microcontroller supports a data transfer rate of up to 12 MBit/s.
