New Carrier Transicold units support PDQ Pharma deliveries

Long-standing Carrier Transicold customer, PDQ Specialist Couriers, has taken delivery of four temperature-controlled light commercials, equipped with Pulsor® 400 Multi-Temperature (MT) units. Leveraging the powerful and efficient cooling capacity of the system, these vehicles will be used to transport temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical and clinical trial deliveries across the UK and throughout Europe. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

Marking the continuation of a nearly decade-long relationship between the two businesses, the refrigerated 3.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz Sprinters – comprising two insulated vans and two chassis cabs mounted with temperature-controlled box bodywork – will operate from the customer’s headquarters in Bromborough, Cheshire, serving as direct replacements for older vehicles.

The Pulsor 400 MT system utilises Carrier Transicold’s E-Drive technology to transform the van’s engine power into electricity, providing rapid temperature pull-down and full refrigeration capacity at engine speeds as low as 1,000 rpm – ideal for congested city centres. The units offer the ability to simultaneously cool and heat different compartments within the load space at the same time, offering a versatile solution for PDQ Specialist Couriers’ specific requirements.

The system also benefits from accurate set point control, maintaining consistent temperatures between minus 25 degrees C and 30 degrees C, performing reliably even in external temperatures ranging from minus 25 degrees C to 50 degrees C. This makes them an ideal solution for year-round operations throughout Europe.

“We understand the importance of precise temperature control for businesses working with pharmaceuticals, where even the smallest deviation can have serious consequences,” said James Bell, Sales & Marketing Director, Carrier Transicold UK. “Our relationship with PDQ Specialist Couriers is built on this experience and the trust we’ve built over the years. We’re proud to be part of their success in supporting such a vital industry."

PDQ Specialist Couriers’ new units are backed by a comprehensive BluEdge fixed-cost full-service maintenance package for complete peace of mind. This package includes annual temperature control testing and certification in line with pharma goods distribution practice (GDP) requirements, full regulatory checks and access to the company’s oneCALL 24/7 pan-European incident management service.

In addition to the new Pulsor-equipped units, the customer has also taken delivery of two Mercedes Benz Citan vans fitted with Xarios® 200 systems. Designed with ultra-slim and lightweight evaporators, these ensure optimal load space, along with simple installation and enhanced accessibility for reduced maintenance time.
