This trend-setting building comprises a clinic for physiotherapy and medical muscle-building plus the offices of the builder, Steffen Holzbau. All of the efficiency systems are monitored from a PcVue 9.0 BMS system with remote WebVue access linked to BACnet controllers and communication.
Following the completion of the DeltaBot, a robot based on an innovative cable-actuated delta-style design, Dr. Khajepour received a surprising number of requests from industry for its use. Based on this commercial demand Dr. Khajepour established AEMK Systems (www.AEMKSystems.com), a company specializing in the design and distribution of high-speed, cable and vision-based robotics systems for use in a variety of industrial applications. The DeltaBot is capable of over 120 pick-and-place cycles per minute and handling up to 20 kg.
Data centres are complex projects. Secure, available and energy-efficient IT services are only possible with a seamless interaction of software, hardware and IT infrastructure. "Rittal – the System" is the new plat-form the data centre specialist is presenting in a bid to shorten the path to turnkey data centres greatly. Just like a set of building bricks, individually matched components can be fitted together and combined with consulting and services.
SOURIAU is pleased to announce that it has been honoured with the 2010 AIRBUS Supplier of the Year Award in recognition of the best global performance during the supplier SQAL Electrics Conference held in Toulouse on December 16, 2010.
An Uninterruptible Power Supply is mandatory on oil rigs: for safety reasons, the signal lighting must be operational at all times. Tasked with designing a UPS solution for an offshore rig off the African coast, R. STAHL was faced with three challenges. The UPS system not only required protective measures against explosive atmospheres, but also had to be adapted to the great heat and maritime climate at the rig's location.
Facing a ceaseless stream of multi-ton loads, drives in portside gantry cranes are under constant pressure to perform. Users need and demand reliable solutions that deliver excellent dynamics, positioning precision, and cost efficiency in equal measure. Hoist and trolley drives used in shipyard or container terminal cranes therefore require specialized mechanics and electronics suitable for this demanding application area.
SMIL has chosen Nord Drivesystems geared motors for the new conveyor system at the Gardanne quarry operated by Durance Granulats, in the south of France. This will increase capacity by 25%, taking the weight of ore processed from 400,000 tonnes to 500,000 tonnes a year.
Automation technology consistently requires ever greater amounts of data and demands ever lower transmission losses, which is why polymer optical fibres (POF) are today being used more and more. Simple connection technology and standardised transmission protocols are distinguishing features of these polymer fibres. Weidmüller now offers an optimum and, to date, unique solution to what is otherwise a complicated process to prepare and terminate POF connectors: With just one tool, the HTX-IE POF, it is possible to strip and crimp 1-mm polymer optical fibres specifically for PROFINET and EtherNet/IP SC-RJ connectors. A rotating blade cuts the fibres precisely at the ferrule so that a subsequent polishing process is no longer necessary. Weidmüller developed its new processing tool for POF cables complying with IEC 60793-2 A4A (1000 µm/ 980 µm POF). In addition, Weidmüller offers a complete programme of tools for processing cables and POF fibres: The PSC 80 assortment case holds everything necessary for preparing and terminating IP67 rated POF connectors. This includes a pair of scissors known as "Scissor Kevlar" specifically to cut aramid fibres, the multi-functional HTX-IE POF and the insulation stripping tool multi-stripax® IE POF.
