To highlight its intention to set itself apart in the fields of service quality and passenger safety, the city of Seville has decided to equip its metro line with platform doors. In this context, Faiveley was able to make all the difference, thanks to its reputation in the railway equipment field and its ability to provide a turnkey solution, overcoming the usual difficulties concerning interfacing between the trains and the platform door system (train-wayside communication).
Gravograph’s new mechanical engraving machine provides many new functions, including ‘point and shoot’ and handling of strips without length limits. IS 900 is designed for flat engraving of identification plates or cutting and engraving of sheets of any material, including aluminium.
The latest addition to the SOURIAU UTS range is a sealed plastic open face connector for printed circuit boards. It is the only one on the market to provide IP68 and IP69K ingress protection ratings, even when it is unmated. The UTS Hi seal PCB versionis intended particularly for electronics applications subjected to wide temperature variations, generating condensation, and to submerged environments: instrumentation in humid environments, outdoor light fixtures, road signs, off-road vehicles, wastewater treatment stations, etc.
This new 5-port Ethernet switch innovates as the only sealed ATEX solution, while remaining affordable. It has the further advantage of being available with connectors that are also sealed and ATEX. Using this particularly rugged switch, with full ’plug and play’ functionality, it is easy to set up redundant rings with 30 ms recovery times and 100 Mbps data rates.
ProSoft Technology® has developed a unique software solution for helping automation engineers to plan and specify their industrial wireless networks: ProSoft Wireless Designer (PWD).
Like Valenciennes, Le Mans and Lyon, Reims has chosen the new 41 GPU grooved rail from Tata Steel. While installation has only just begun, its recent success highlights the advantages of this new Tata Steel Rail for tramways. It assures a perfect continuity of the running rail with the Vignole 50E6 rails (standard EN 13674-1). It thus assures the durability and the optimization of investment, reduced wear and improved comfort for passengers and residents.
Tata Steel Rail has just completed delivery, spread over five years, of 130 000 metal railway sleepers for the renovation of the Corsican railway. Made in Scunthorpe, England, the sleepers have the advantage of being fire resistant, are specially adapted for metric gauge tracks and most importantly, are easy to handle as they are two times lighter than wooden sleepers.
UTS In-Line is a connector that is designed to expand or repair links, and which assures a level of dynamic airtight sealing to IP68 or IP69K. It is an ideal solution for demanding applications such as robotics, off-road, road signage and railway signaling. The screw contact termination variant makes it the ideal companion for installation engineers.
This planetary reduction gear for rack and pinion applications offers exceptional rigidity characteristics, in particular through the one-piece output pinion technology invented by REDEX. It provides unrivalled radial rigidity (accounting for up to 60% of overall rigidity).
Owners of mobile plant equipment are plagued by theft, so must invest heavily to try and minimise this happening. However, the need for convenient access means that a single key code is often used for a number of vehicles – making a thief’s job easier. Around only 5% of stolen plant equipment is ever recovered so owners are keen to increase protection but without sacrificing flexibility. Engineered access solutions specialist Southco has an answer: it is working with equipment manufacturers to develop keyless entry systems – similar to the wireless keyfob used to open your car – that trigger an electro-mechanical latch. Each vehicle can then have a unique entry code, yet still be easily accessible to authorised people. As an added benefit, the locking mechanism can be incorporated within the vehicle, so there is no visible lock for a thief to target. Such systems could be designed directly into the machinery, rather than being added as a retrofit device.
