Variable speed drives save energy on Archimedes’ screws

Successful trials at three Anglian Water sites prove variable speed drives can cut the energy used by Archimedes’ screws. A series of trials by Anglian Water, during which variable speed drives (VSDs) were used to control the speed of Archimedes’ screws, has resulted in a £26,000 energy saving in three months across three wastewater treatment sites.

Glenair AquaMouse connectors now available through Powell Electronics

In stock at Powell Electronics, the supplier of connectors and more for high-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial, are Series 802 AquaMouse connectors from Glenair. Originally developed for petroleum pipeline inspection equipment, the devices are available in ten sizes from one up to 130 contacts and are equipped with Viton O-rings to withstand exposure to corrosive chemicals and high temperature environments.
