EMCOTURN E45 and E65 equipped with Heidenhain's CNC Pilot 640 control
For more than 10 years, the E series has been successful on the market as an EMCO entry-level machine. In recent years, the range of models has been consequently expanded by further functionalities such as a counter-spindle and Y-axis. Today, it facilitates entry into the area of complete bar and chuck machining.
EMCOTURN E65 with Heidenhain controlIn order to cater for customers using Heidenhain controls in their production processes, EMCO now offers their EMCOTURN E45 and EMCOTURN E65 turning machines with Heidenhain's CNC Pilot 640 control. The new Heidenhain control completes the existing range of control systems, which includes Siemens and Fanuc, in the area of EMCOTURN machines.
Equipped with Y-axis, driven tools and powerful digital drives, EMCOTURN E45 and E65 machines facilitate entry into the world of efficient, standardised complete machining. Thus, they stand for an increase in performance, quality and precision as well as a clear focus on essential machine functions, while at the same time reducing costs.
The CNC Pilot 640 offer customers with Heidenhain milling experience the possibility of a quick and straightforward switchover from their familiar control world to turning technology. Advantages of the control with smart.TURN function include very easy programmability and thus an extremely short time from the idea to the finished component.
Easy completion of forms, default settings for globally valid values, selection options such as high-performance graphic support and simulation guarantee quick and straightforward operation. The redesigned smart.TURN user interface is based on the tried and tested HEIDENHAIN-DIN PLUS, because smart.TURN generates DIN PLUS programmes. Thus, both the NC programmer and machine operator are provided with all important details while the programme is running.
Thanks to its flexible design and versatile programming possibilities, the CNC Pilot always offers the right support. No matter if you produce individual parts or series, whether you manufacture simple or complex workpieces – the support offered by the CNC PILOT is always appropriate. The CNC PILOT is characterised by easy operation and programming, which is why only short instruction/training periods are required.
Irrespective of whether simple turned parts or complex workpieces are manufactured, with the CNC PILOT, users benefit from graphical contour input and comfortable programming with smart.TURN. And what if variable programming is used, special machine units are activated or externally generated programmes are run...? No problem, this is done by switching over to DIN PLUS.
The project was implemented in close cooperation with the Heidenhain development team in Traunreut and Hannover. While the first pilot customers are already being supplied and the official presentation is going to take place at EMO 2017, it is planned to equip further EMCO machines with Heidenhain's CNC Pilot.
