Exceptional in variability, precision and performance: machining center MMV 2000
The platform plus differing, very specific options can also provide the outstanding concept for optimal solutions regarding machine tools. EMCO is implementing this in the machining center (MC) MMV 2000 for heavy and precision cutting and machining. The user can specify the appropriate version according to his machining tasks The machine solutions impress with economic benefits in addition to their technical benefits. They are therefore just as relevant for the automotive and aerospace industries as for the machine builder or toll manufacturer. The extremely rigid and compact welded structure of the machine base is filled with Hydropol, a particularly vibration-damping material. The moving column machining center thus provides a rigid and stable base for all components and machining operations. Workpieces can weigh up to 2,000 kg and have a volume of 2,000 x 600 x 750 mm. 34 kW spindle power, 135 Nm of torque and up to 10,000 rpm give optimal results for both rough machining and finishing. The user can select a swivel head as 4th axis and a rotary table as 5th axis for complete machining. The two large doors in the working area ensure easy loading and unloading, even when using a crane. The MMV 2000 tool drum magazines come equipped with 30 tool spaces as a standard feature; either a second magazine or other tool changing systems can be delivered upon request.
Components enabling high precision and performance are typical of the new machining center. Ball screw spindles that are connected directly to the motors over backlash-free couplings transfer the forces and movements in the X-, Y- and Z-axis. Axis acceleration rates of up to 4 m/s ² and rapid traverse speeds of up to 50 m/min can thus be reached, with high dynamics and smooth, quiet running.
Both rotary axes – B in the swivel head and C in the rotary table – are driven by torque motors. The swivel head can be positioned to ± 100° and the rotary table to n x 360° with a speed of up to 100 rpm. The machining center can position the B-axis quickly with a swivel speed of 50 rpm and thus operate economically in the C-axis. Alternatively, the user can select the rotary table (630 mm diameter) that is integrated into the 2,400 x 750 mm clamping area of the rigid work table and includes a drive of up to 800 rpm. Although a glass scale is standardly used as a measuring system in the X-axis, the Y- and Z-axis can also be equipped with this option.
Naturally, the EMCO commitment of ‘Made in the Heart of Europe’ also applies to the MMV 2000. The machines are completely developed and produced in central Europe in cooperation with European brand manufacturers that meet the highest standards in terms of quality, productivity and efficiency.
