Innovative gear solutions for automation
Nabtesco Precision Europe will showcase its innovative cycloidal and strain wave gears for automation at SPS 2024, featuring live demonstrations and expert insights into dynamic motion solutions.
Nabtesco Precision Europe offers cycloidal and strain wave gears from a single source – ideal for innovative gear solutions in robotics & automation.
Nabtesco will demonstrate this technology in action at SPS in Nuremberg from 12 to 14 November, 2024.
High dynamics? Heavy loads? Tight installation space? Whatever the requirements: Nabtesco has the right precision gears. SPS in Nuremberg will provide the opportunity to learn more about the technologies, innovations, and solution competence of Nabtesco as a gear manufacturer. From 12 to 14 November, 2024, at Booth 426 in Hall 3A, the drive experts will present their extensive product portfolio and broad range of services for robotics and automation.
Cycloidal gears and strain wave gears from a single source
Nabtesco Precision Europe offers the most extensive and most diverse range of precision gear products available. The portfolio comprises both cycloidal gears and strain wave gears (Ovalo GmbH location in Limburg (Lahn)), which are fully scalable from 7 to 28,000 Nm. That allows the company to implement suitable precision gear solutions for literally every axis and every application – from small to large, in robotics and in machine engineering. This competence is unique in the market and guarantees a seamless gear strategy and optimally coordinated systems.
Cycloidal gears: Specially designed for high torques
Cycloidal gears use cams and rollers for power transmission. This ensures high efficiency, exceptional resistance to shock loads (up to 500 % of the rated torque) and minimal backlash throughout the entire service life (hysteresis loss < 1 arcmin, purely mechanical backlash 0.1-0.2 arcmin). The special design of these innovative gear systems makes them much more precise, dynamic and rigid than the commonly used rotary indexers and standard planetary gears – which makes it possible to achieve substantial improvements in efficiency.
Plug-and-play cycloidal gears
Plug-and-play solutions such as the modular Neco® series, the hollow shaft gears of the RD-C series, the high-performance RS rotary indexers and the integrated, decentralised drive unit with a Mecanum wheel for automated guided vehicles (AGV) are designed for ease of use and make robot technology (market share of more than 60 percent) available for general machine and plant engineering.
Zero backlash precision gears
While cycloidal gears are ideal for high torques, strain wave gears are especially suitable for low-torque applications and are used wherever high performance is required in a tight installation space. They feature absolute zero backlash, outstanding repeatability and a high torque capacity – all in a compact and lightweight design.
Custom designed strain wave gears of excellent quality
All strain wave gears are custom designed. This means that performance, as well as gear size and interfaces, are tailored to the exact requirements of the particular application. Production at the Ovalo GmbH location in Limburg (Lahn) is compliant with automotive standard IATF 16949, to guarantee the highest quality, large volumes, short development times and a high level of cost-effectiveness. Gear sets, gear sets plus and gear units are available as hat type gears (HTG) and cup type gears (CTG), with a hollow or solid shaft. The exhibit will also include actuators and digital gears.
