Faced with high maintenance costs relating to bearings on a plate rolling mill, a major steel manufacturer has witnessed significant benefits following an application specific product replacement from NSK. Until recently, a daily maintenance routine was required on the rolling mill’s existing open roll bearings to ensure sufficient lubrication. However, analysis by NSK led to the proposal, and subsequent installation, of advanced Sealed-Clean bearings, which are designed specifically for use in heavily contaminated environments and offer 2.7 times longer life than conventional roll neck bearings.
Michael Preinerstorfer, the recently appointed Managing Director of the European Industrial Business Unit (EIBU) at NSK, explains how he is aiming to extend further the company’s position of strength through superior added value for customers. In fact, NSK’s AIP added value programme, is already driving huge benefits and savings at customers worldwide, largely through a commitment to 100% in-house product development, extensive service provision and a pledge of total quality. Mr Preinerstorfer also emphasises on the relevance of next year’s centenary celebrations, and reveals that the company’s turnover target for 2016 is 7 billion euros.

The leading global provider of power and thermal management solutions will expand its product offering to include new energy storage solutions and inverters that meet the expanding needs of solar customers in Europe.
Fresenius Medical Care SMAD uses a smart system to handle uneven stacks of dialysers. This system consists of a robot that uses two 2D sensors to detect the position of dialysers and move them to a conveyor without any human intervention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
HMS Industrial Networks now presents a new solution for handling profiles - mainly targeting drives and motion applications. The extension to the new Anybus CompactCom 40-series enables drives manufacturers to comply with common profile specifications such as PROFIdrive, EtherCAT DS402, and transparent DS402 on other networks.
DATAPAQ TP3 for heat treatment, paint-curing, and ceramics processes
Cambridge, UK – The new DATAPAQ TP3 data logger provides more measurement channels, connectivity options, and ease of use for profiling and surveying in high-temperature heat treatment applications. With a ±0.3 °C (0.5 °F) accuracy, the all-new logger surpasses the most stringent requirements. “We have worked towards this exciting launch for two years,” states Elie El Choueiry, Furnace and Kiln Product Manager at Datapaq Ltd., Cambridge, UK. “Compared to our previous, successful heat treatment solution TPAQ21, the new DATAPAQ TP3 provides even more detailed insight into high-temperature processes. It is more resilient and includes numerous new features, such as full connectivity including Bluetooth, fully certified TUS capability for AMS 2750E and CQI-9, integrated correction and calibration functions, and flexible charging with multiple battery options.”
Raytek and Ircon at METEC-THERMPROCESS 2015
Berlin – At this year’s METEC-THERMPROCESS exhibition, infrared temperature measurement experts Raytek and Ircon (Hall 9, Stand B73) will present their comprehensive pyrometer program for the metal working industry. By detecting infrared radiation from a distance to determine an object’s temperature, pyrometers reliably monitor products and processes with temperatures up to 3,000 °C. Exhibition highlights range from robust handheld devices to fixed pyrometers with rugged accessories, from OEM sensors with record-setting compact dimensions to highly precise thermal imaging systems. The team will be happy to advise visitors on the best way to tackle their particular application. Raytek and Ircon provide capable solutions for all scenarios involving digital or analog signals and automation environments featuring a variety of different fieldbuses or Industrial Ethernet protocols.
